Its finally here!! Our first market of the year is Tuesday, Sept 8th!

The first round of tomatoes are ready and the peppers are poppin! The sweet onions are limited so be ready!

Tomatoes are here!!!!

We are so excited our tomatoes are starting to ripen! We're bursting at the seems with jalapeños right now and the bell peppers are right behind them. I'm hoping we'll have enough to bring to town in the next couple weeks. I know I keep teasing a market date but we are so close so stay tuned!

We had our "one bad day" on the homestead this weekend and the meat birds were officially sent to freezer camp.

Butcher weekend is always a bittersweet event. I never take loss of life lightly and often struggle with that part of the day. It's a messy, dirty process that puts you up close and personal with your food source and how it gets to your table. But thats the goal, right?

We've got jalapeños!! And the bell peppers aren't too far behind! It's still a bit too early for tomatoes but I'm hoping they start turning soon. Our basil is also popping off this year. We're getting close to market season so stay tuned for more updates (and hopefully our first market date soon!).

The high tunnel is growing fast! We've got our first baby pickling cukes and jalapeños!

Pickling cukes should be ready in the next several weeks. This year we are opening up pre-orders! Just let us know what week and how many lbs you would like. We try and pick within 1-2 days of pickup so they stay fresh and crunchy for pickling.

The meat birds moved to the tractor last weekend and are getting so big! Pictured here at 5 weeks, they will stay in the tractor until they go to freezer camp.

It's garlic scape time! Only hardneck garlic produces scapes, and they are only available for a short time in the summer when garlic starts reaching it's final stage of growth. Garlic scape pesto and garlic scape butter are my two favorite ways to use them up!
