Today’s job had a little bit of everything.

This heat pump was down with a compressor terminal that had blown out, so the compressor had to come out. While doing the changeout, I replaced the filter drier and capacitor at the same time.

After getting everything back together, I pulled the system down below 500 microns, charged it back up with R-410A, and checked everything over to make sure the system was running properly.

And because apparently the equipment wasn’t enough to keep me busy 😂 I had a possum stop by to check out what I was doing, then a squirrel fell out of the tree right beside me. I tried to catch him to save the little guy but he went inside a groundhog hole. 🐿️

Got a call from a customer whose AC wasn’t working. Found a bad capacitor on the outdoor unit and got that replaced. I also found the indoor drain line clogged, with the drain pan completely full of water. Cleared the drain line and vacuumed the water out of the pan.

Got everything cleaned up and the system back up and running!

Thermostat Relocation & Airflow Improvement

Had a customer with one room staying hotter than the rest of the building. I relocated the thermostat to the return to get a better reading of the temperature throughout the building, added two pass-through vents to help move air out of the warmer room, and installed a lock box over the thermostat.

A few changes to the thermostat location and airflow can make a big difference in keeping temperatures more even throughout the building.

Mini Split Service Call

Had a mini split that wasn’t cooling properly, so I checked the system and found it low on refrigerant. I used a leak detector to track down the leak and found it at the Schrader valve.

Repaired the leak by replacing the Schrader valve, then charged the system back up with R-454B and got it cooling properly again.

I also insulated the refrigerant lines at the indoor wall-hanging unit. The lines were sweating because they weren’t properly insulated, causing condensation and leaking behind the indoor unit into the customers floor and furniture.

Got a couple HVAC issues taken care of at a customer’s business today.

One unit had a bad capacitor.Replaced the capacitor, and got it back running like it should.

While I was there, another unit didn’t sound quite right, so I checked it out and found it was low on refrigerant. Got the charge back where it needed to be and made sure the unit was cooling properly before leaving.

Always better to check when something doesn’t seem right to catch an issue early before it turns into a bigger problem.

While checking out a customer’s AC unit, I found a breaker that had gotten extremely hot and burned up . Glad we caught it before it caused a bigger problem.

Remember to always check the electrical side of the unit along with the AC itself. Sometimes the issue isn’t what you first expect.

Countertop cooktop replacement completed!

Removed the old flat-top stove, installed the new one, and carefully cut the existing granite countertop to get the new cooktop fitted properly in the opening. Everything is fitted up and working like it should.
