A proper and consistent gap between your vinyl sheets is the best way to set up for an ideal groove to heat weld into. Overlap your previous sheet, already rolled into the adhesive, about 1/2 inch and using a scribe that follows the bottom sheet and scores the top one, then following up with a hook knife is the preferred method. Now the guide wheel on your groover has a place to ride in to keep your weld groove straight.
