Went to Italy to make memories with my kids. Came home with 400 photos of floors…..
Not sorry. Every threshold in Rome is a design decision someone made 400 years ago and nobody has improved on since.
Here’s what I kept thinking about: when a client says classic, what they usually mean is not that funky. But look at these floors. Broken marble set like confetti. A cosmatesque star you walk over without looking down. This IS classic. It’s just classic with a pulse.
Pattern isn’t the risky choice. Restraint got confused with taste somewhere along the way, and Europe never got the memo.

Spec house, zero spec energy.
Every choice in here was made like someone was actually going to live in it. Two-story kitchen with cabinetry that goes all the way up, because ceilings that tall deserve better than a soffit. A w**e wall with brass racking and a narrow diamond. Anyone who knows me knows I think w**e rooms are a bit too in your face but lights out and this one is not visible. Powder bath in striped marble because why would we not? Special kids tile, well because they live here too and you have one childhood and one set of memories and it better not be ugly. A pantry with its own vibe entry and its own opinion.
Style it though. Because it deserves it. Warm woods, honest stone, brass that’ll patina. Nothing here is placeholder. Nothing here is “good enough for a buyer.”
It’s built for a family that hosts. That cooks. That leaves the good glasses out.

Grateful today and every day. Freedom to build a career I love, raise these babies, and chase good taste wherever it takes me — even a slab-yard stop on the 4th, because this is how we spend our time as a family. I’m teaching them what I know so they grow up in it, and I already take their opinions seriously. The next generation of the family business, right here. Not everyone gets this. I don’t take a second of it for granted. 🇺🇸

Move-in week.
People see the finished room. They don’t see the months of planning, the sourcing, the spreadsheets, the personal conversations and sequencing. Every piece has a place. Nothing here is on accident.
This week it starts. Piece by piece. The room sharpens. The room lands exactly where it was always going to.
This is the part I live for.

Luckily my Sundays are full, and they would agree. Not really interested in the framing details yet but clearly interested in some of the trade tools….
