HOW DO WE PIVOT?
In the past month, I found myself in a heartbreaking place.
I had to take a long pause, and during that pause I began to do something that is almost innate to me. An ancient African proverb says "move your feet while you pray."
This is the best way that I can describe the way I , , lean into pain, find more and then start . While creating space and alignment, I began to PIVOT in a path that started opening for me... as if it's been waiting on me all along. 💡
If someone needs to hear this: you're never alone. It never just happens to you but FOR you.
There's a mystical element to storms: it's called . You see perhaps the way this particular storm reared its ugly head was NEW... but the way I would make it up, over and through? Well, that would be TRIED and TRUE.
Not only have I been here before, I've also coached and consulted clients in my Purpose Co. on having "Pivot Plans" because I've spent a life-time developing my own.
The same people who would tell me:
"No one leaves that kind of money at your age. Not sure that kind of opportunity can come again"
"Why would you turn down that title? They're only going to offer that once to you."
"It's a nice business but the fact is, it can take years before people start booking you as a speaker and even more to gain clients"
"You're a black woman in America. There are ceilings even if you don't want to see them, there are rules even if you don't want to play by them."
Those same types of people, and even "friends" and "mentors" would call it LUCK when I garnered more opportunities, clients or jobs. Or they would claim that I'm so LUCKY- I suppose my husband went out and grabbed the job opportunities for me, I suppose my good family went out there, networked and did business development and marketing for me to get clients, platforms and gigs.
Now I am extremely blessed 💯, fortunate and try to take nothing for granted. 🙏🏾 However, this former 5th Grade Class President, Spelling Bee 1st Runner Up and Cheerleading Captain (don't mean to show y'all the 😆)... has a few competencies of her own. "I'm a hustla, I'm a- I'm a- hustla homie" said Cassidy. "ASK about Me!!"
No matter what "resume gap", "business break" or pause I took- I've always believed those were parts of my that need not be hidden, and there's jewels inside that story that are going to create an even greater way forward.
LUCK is not at the top of my 5 Core Strengths from the assessment which reveals your top 5 out of 34. is my #1 Core Strength every single time.
