Houston may be firmly in summer mode, but fall planting season isn’t as far away as it feels. 🌳

October through February is prime tree-planting time in the Houston area, giving new trees a chance to establish roots before they have to face another Gulf Coast summer. So while August may not have us reaching for the shovel just yet, it’s a pretty good time to start planning what goes where.

Future-you - and future shade-seeking-you - may be glad you did.

🌱 Houston gardeners: It’s time to start thinking ahead.

Our New Caney site manager Chad Robertson shared some great advice for gardening through the Texas summer.

While it’s still too hot to plant many fall vegetables, now is the perfect time to plan your fall garden, prepare your beds, add compost, and make a list of the crops you want to grow when temperatures begin to cool.
