Stunning completed photos! Now, who is ready for rooftop views, a vacation and a cocktail? The JW Marriott Houston Downtown Expansion is an adaptive reuse project of the historic 10-story Battlestein’s Building built in 1950, adjoining to the existing five-star JW Marriott Houston Downtown. Arch-Con’s scope of work includes a 72,420-square-foot building conversion adding and building out 56 elegant rooms and suites as well as the demolition and renovation of the storefront, entry vestibule, elevators, ballroom and restrooms. Designed by MCS Architects LLC, project highlights include a rooftop bar and pool and 10,000 square feet of event space.

Industrial growth across Texas is creating opportunity, but it is also changing the construction landscape. Arch-Con President Jason M. Cooper joined an industry powerhouse panel at the SIOR Southwest Regional Conference in Dallas to discuss industrial trends, construction costs and the challenges shaping development across the region.

Alongside Art Barkley of Prologis, Bob Rice of Ironwood Realty Partners, LLC and David Hicks of EastGroup Properties Inc, Jason brought a construction perspective to the panel, highlighting several trends we are watching closely across the state:

Labor availability: Major manufacturing projects have the potential to place significant pressure on an already competitive skilled labor market.

Rising construction costs: Labor demand, material pricing and lead times continue to influence project costs and schedules.

Manufacturing growth: Distribution remains a major driver across Texas, while manufacturing continues to expand its footprint.

Data center demand: Data centers and data center-adjacent users, including power-related facilities, are becoming an increasingly important part of the market.

We are kicking off the construction of Intercontinental Landing developed by IDV. This 514,349-square-foot, cross-dock industrial tilt-wall warehouse near George Bush Intercontinental Airport includes 4,440 square feet of office space and large warehouse areas with dock-high loading. Arch-Con’s scope of work includes tilt-wall concrete panel construction, structural steel and joist framing, site paving, underground utilities, stormwater detention, fire protection and complete electrical, mechanical, plumbing and fire alarm systems. This project is designed by Powers Brown Architecture with coordination between civil, structural and design-build MEPF trades.

High FIVE🖐️! This morning, Sprouts Farmers Market🍃 celebrated the Grand Opening of its 500th store! This also marks Arch-Con’s 5th Sprouts project for this national grocer. Designed by Boucher Design Group, LLC, the store is situated within Regency Centers Panther Creek Village Center and is part of a renovation project where we transformed a former Randall’s grocery store into two retail spaces, including this 30,478-square-foot Sprouts. The Grand Opening weekend offers exciting freebies and exclusive savings. Our Superintendent Gilbert (his 2nd Sprouts store) gave us a tour and introduced us to the Sprouts team. Great job completing this Sprouts🍃 two weeks early, team!🍃🛒

IAH Business Park is off to the races🏇! After breaking ground in July, we are preparing to have panels up and will be erecting steel this month. This industrial warehouse is developed by The Levey Group and designed by Goree. The project involves constructing a rear-load 44,800-square-foot tilt-wall building with a 32-foot clear height and includes a 100% ESFR system. Our scope of work also includes approximately 43,195 square feet of new paving and sidewalks. It is located just west of IAH Airport on 3.6 acres at the northeast corner of Aldine Westfield and Farrell Road.

Our Senior Superintendent Rusty gives us a tour of The Monarch Community. Phase I is complete, and the new Dining Hall is ready to serve! This residential therapeutic community is located in Houston’s Historic Montrose neighborhood. We are so proud to have enhanced the resident experience at Monarch. We renovated the existing housing complex and constructed a new building that provides additional housing units, a dining hall and commercial kitchen. Studio RED Architects thoughtfully integrated the architecture of the neighborhood into the design of the project.

Mighty speedy here at Silo Springs! Our team broke ground in February on this 346-unit, high-end apartment complex in West Houston. We started framing in May and plan to be topped out the end of September. What a team. 👷‍♀️👷👷‍♂️ Our Director of Operations Toby said this highly effective team and being involved in the Preconstruction with the developer made a huge difference in the project’s progress. Silo Springs is the initial phase of Moody National Companies, LP’s multi-phase development Silo Village designed by PVEDI. Keep up the impressive work everyone! 🚧
