⚠️ Word of Caution to Contractors and Laborers in Idaho Falls and Surrounding Areas
I want to share my personal experience with Brookhaven home solutions a company based out of Atlanta, Georgia, as a word of caution to other contractors and laborers in the Idaho Falls area.
A few weeks ago, I was contacted by the company to inspect several issues they reported at one of their rental properties here in town. After arriving and inspecting the situation, I found that the information I had been given about the problems was inaccurate. The issue they had sent me to address was not actually a problem to begin with.
During my inspection, however, I identified other issues that did require attention and explained what needed to be done to resolve them. I performed the requested inspection/work based on the information and circumstances presented to me.
When it came time for payment, I was told that they would not pay the fee because the work I performed was not what they had originally sent me there to do. The problem is that the reason they originally sent me was based on inaccurate information, and the additional issues were things I discovered while doing the inspection.
Unfortunately, this is not the only job I've had an issues with.
I'm sharing this so other contractors and laborers can do their due diligence, get the scope of work and payment terms in writing, and be cautious about accepting jobs from companies they haven't worked with before.
I'm not trying to create unnecessary drama or tell anyone else what decision to make. I'm simply sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions and hopefully avoid finding themselves in the same situation.
Contractors: protect your time, document everything, and make sure you have clear payment terms before doing the work.
