A recent guest had this to say “This cute little cabin was maxed out mid-century! It was so well-decorated and you felt like you had walked back in time. Absolutely the funnest place I have ever stayed. Everything was thought out and ready at hand. The fire pit area next to the river was beautiful and so very peaceful. Enjoyed every minute of it” 💫🛶🔥

This museum is just a little drive from the cabin, Harbor Springs is a beautiful area.

NOW OPEN - As an extension of the exhibit at the History Museum, new quill work artifacts are on display across the street at the Andrew J. Blackbird Museum. While "It's Not Just a Quill Box" focuses on contemporary artists, the artifacts drawn from the Blackbird Museum’s Collection reveal the work of previous generations, including pieces completed during the Works Progress Administration's Michigan Indian Art and Craft Project. The Blackbird Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.

You're invited to join the North Country Trail community at its annual Celebration this August 21-25 in St. Ignace, Michigan. Learn new skills, become inspired, and of course, hike. Registration is now open at northcountrytrail.org/celebration.

The Eastern Upper Peninsula offer superb outdoor experiences, and during Celebration, you can be guided through a variety of them. Traverse the Lake Superior State Forest and Hiawatha National Forest, cross the Little Two Hearted River, and walk along the shores of three Great Lakes. Wander through the spectacular Tahquamenon Falls State Park and see the iconic, five-mile-long Mackinac Bridge.

~ Happy New Year, friends!

2023 was a great season for the cabin. We hosted many couples celebrating special occasions like anniversaries, first-time-away-from-the-kids and honeymoons. This year saw some major upgrades such as the installation of a metal roof and a fire pit patio with an elevated river view, and landscaping of native trees and shrubs. I am looking forward to adding flowers and sedges and watching the landscape grow lush in the coming years.

Thank you for following along with Sturgeon’s Return. We’re wishing you a healthy and happy 2024. Before you know it the cabin will open for the season again but let’s not rush it along because we love Michigan winter, too. Stay cozy! 💫
