🌾 What if I told you your yard could help bring the fireflies back? ✨

Remember chasing them on warm summer nights?
The soft glow, the wonder, the peace?

We’re losing them.

Not because they’re giving up…
…but because we’ve taken away the places they call home.

💔 Mowed lawns.
💔 Sprayed chemicals.
💔 No wild spaces left.

But here’s the good news:

🌱 You can bring them back.
🌼 You can turn your yard into a sanctuary.
🦋 You can be part of the change.

At Ecoscapes Land Stewards, we help Indy families rewild their yards — not just for looks, but for life.

And it’s not just fireflies:
It’s bees, butterflies, native birds, and even clean air and water.

👉 Imagine your kids seeing more nature in their backyard than at the zoo.
👉 Imagine a world where beauty and balance grow right outside your window.

🌿 Want to help bring the magic back?

🌿 Sunday Yard Tip from Ecoscapes Land Stewards 🌿

Take a quiet stroll through your yard today. Notice the spots where the sun blazes, the shade lingers, the soil stays soggy, or the ground feels dry and cracked. These are nature’s clues — and they can guide you toward planting with purpose.

🌞 Got a sunny, dry patch? Consider butterfly w**d or prairie dropseed — tough native plants that thrive in heat.
🌧️ Is one corner always damp? That’s a great place for swamp milkw**d or blue flag iris — perfect for rain gardens.
🌸 Want to add a burst of color that supports pollinators? Try rose pink (Sabatia angularis) — a stunning native wildflower that loves open, sunny spaces and helps bees and butterflies thrive.

When we observe our yards like ecosystems instead of just “lawns,” we start to plant smarter — and create more beauty with less effort.

🌱 Need help reading the signs in your landscape? Ecoscapes offers eco-friendly lawn care, native planting, and restoration services tailored to your yard’s unique conditions. Message us today to schedule a walk-through!

🦋 Why Butterfly W**d Belongs in Every Yard 🌿

Bright orange blooms, low maintenance, and a magnet for pollinators—Butterfly W**d is more than just a pretty face. This native Indiana plant is part of the milkw**d family, making it essential for monarch butterflies, who rely on milkw**d to lay their eggs and feed their caterpillars.

✅ Drought-tolerant
✅ Supports native pollinators
✅ Thrives in tough soils
✅ Blooms mid-summer through fall

🌱 Unlike common milkw**d, it doesn’t spread aggressively, making it perfect for small gardens or borders.

Want to create a yard that gives back to nature? Start with Butterfly W**d—and let your garden become a sanctuary. 🐛🦋

🍀 Clover in Your Lawn: Friend or Foe? 🍀
Not all clover is created equal! While clover often gets labeled a “w**d,” it actually helps your lawn and the environment — depending on the kind you have.

✅ The Good (Native & Helpful)
– White clover (Trifolium repens) – Non-native but beneficial; fixes nitrogen and feeds pollinators
– Buffalo clover (Trifolium reflexum) & Running buffalo clover (Trifolium stoloniferum) – Native to Indiana, supports native wildlife and soil health

🚫 The Problematic (Invasive or Overused)
– Large patches of non-native clover (even white clover) can sometimes outcompete native plants
– Invasive groundcovers like creeping Charlie and lesser celandine often get mistaken for clover but are actually harmful to your yard’s biodiversity

🌱 Eco Tip:
– Leave the small clover patches – they’re beneficial
– Remove invasives by hand or sheet mulch (cardboard + wood chips)
– Replant with native groundcovers like wild strawberry or native clovers for beauty and biodiversity

At EcoScapes Land Stewards, we help people build eco-friendly yards that support pollinators, birds, and healthy soil—without chemicals.
