The Story Behind Riley Electric
Born into challenging circumstances with teenage parents and facing a rare disease called Hirschsprung’s, the founder of Riley Electric entered the world already fighting an uphill battle. The first years of life were spent at Riley Hospital for Children, relying on feeding tubes and medical support just to survive. What could have been an insurmountable obstacle instead became the foundation for unbreakable resilience.
With his mother by his side every single step, a dedicated military grandfather who made time to be present during those hospital days, and the steady guidance of his uncle—a highly respected master electrician who served on the state board and taught at the IEC—the path forward began to take shape. That early support, along with caring mentors and teachers in the Perry Township school system, helped turn trials into determination.
Through childhood struggles, academic challenges, and the very real risk of giving up, he learned the value of perseverance. Formal training at C9 and the IEC, combined with hands-on experience working for area contractors and traveling the country on job sites, built real-world expertise. He later returned to the same school district that once supported him, earning credentials to become an educator and serving as an academic success coach for students facing similar obstacles.
Those experiences—both the successes and the hard lessons from failure—led to the creation of Riley Electric. Today, the company stands as proof that resilience and determination can overcome stacked odds. Every project reflects a commitment to quality craftsmanship, integrity, and doing things the right way.
