Ridgeway Homes was founded over 60 years ago in Butler, Alabama, by J.W. Ridgeway, Sr., and began as a small family-operated venture to build quality homes for families to cher sh for generations. Under the leadership of John W. Ridgeway Sr., the company quickly gained a reputation for its craftsmanship and reliability in constructing homes not only in Mississippi but also across southeastern states such as Georgia, Tennessee, Louisana, and Florida. In total, he built homes and communities across a total of 16 states.

However, Ridgeway Homes faced adversity during the era of segregation and civil rights struggles in the American South. As an African American visionary, J.W. Ridgeway, Sr. established his company as a symbol of hope and defiance against racial injustice. He rebuilt homes that had been targeted by racist acts of arson by the Klan and other hate groups, which other builders were afraid or intimidatded to undertake. But, he held definant against the threats and remained steadfast on completing the homes of the victims and to help to give them back a sense of normalcy. He knew that he could not truly give these families true justice and or any vindication. Still he could be a symbol of stability and defiance in the face of hate to those he rebuilt for.

The legacy of J.W. Ridgeway Sr.'s commitment to progress and equality continues through Ridgeway Homes today. The company expanded under John W. Ridgeway Jr., who brought modernization to the business by incorporating real estate development, multifamily investment and syndication, and brokerage services.

Ridgeway Homes' expansion was strategic and visionary under John Jr.'s leadership, embracing technological advancements while focusing on sustainability. The company offers a comprehensive range of both commercial and residential construction services and a range of real estate solutions, from design, development, syndication, and construction mananagment to real estate sales and brokerage.

With John Jr.'s expertise in real estate coupled with his general contractor's licensure across multiple states (Louisiana, Alabama) including offering construction services support rental machinery in Florida), Ridgeway Homes has successfully navigated complex multi-state operations while maintaining its commitment to quality.

Community involvement is integral to Ridgway Homes' philosophy; just as the precedent J.W., Sr.'s set decades ago, the company actively contributes to local nonprofits while playing an active role in community development projects.
