After last year’s severe storms and our community losing many of its trees, it’s critical that we look ahead to what our city will look like in the future.
Emerald Ash Borer is no longer a distant threat.
The infestation found at the rest area south of town was not isolated to there. The emerald ash borer was discovered in a shelterbelt over a mile away from there with heavy damage already present. We are unsure if its moved beyond that as of yet. Meaning it has been on the move for awhile. And just this week, Emerald Ash Borer was confirmed in Fargo.
This means the risk to our local ash trees is real — and increasing.
