Another look from this cold-rolled steel project.

This building got 5-inch K-style gutters with rectangular downspouts.

The owners chose this style over half-round to help save a little bit on cost, but still wanted the cold-rolled steel material so the gutters would blend in with the architecture of the building.

This is another rustic, old-style building, and even though the gutters are brand new, they look like they have been there forever. It does not look like a shiny new add-on. It looks like it belongs.

More coming soon from this project.

Cold-rolled steel half-round gutter project.

This one fit the building perfectly.

Almost the entire building was built from reclaimed, recycled, and second-hand materials.

The owners put a lot of time, blood, sweat, and tears into making it feel rustic and authentic.

So a standard gutter system just would not have matched.

Cold-rolled steel weathers over time, develops character, and becomes part of the look.

Some homes are just a lot trickier than others.

This one has a two-step fascia detail, which is one of the hardest details to install gutters on and still make everything look clean.

It takes more planning, more time, and a little more problem-solving, but that’s part of the job.

Every home is built different. Our job is to make the gutter system work with the house, not against it.

One of the most common gutter issues we see is water running behind the gutter instead of into it.

This slow motion video shows a drip edge extension doing its job. It helps pull water away from the fascia and direct it into the gutter where it belongs.

Small detail, big difference.

A lot of people have been asking us what our architectural box gutters actually look like on an older style home, not just on mountain modern or ultra contemporary builds.

This home here in Whitefish was built in the mid-1900s, and honestly, the box gutter fit the architecture of the home way better than a standard K-style gutter would have.

One thing we always try to explain is that gutters are a very visible part of the home. They can either blend into the architecture… or fight against it.

Now to be clear, architectural box gutter is NOT the right fit for every home. Sometimes standard seamless gutters make the most sense. But on certain homes, especially where homeowners want a little cleaner or more architectural look, these can completely change the overall appearance of the exterior in a really good way.

The goal is always the same:
Build a system that functions properly for Montana weather while also fitting the style of the home.

This one turned out awesome.

Watch this house transform.

From worn and faded to clean, sharp, and built to last. These before & after's say it all.

The details make the difference.

This is a good example of how a clean design can still cause major water issues if drainage isn’t planned out.

This home had a pergola-style beam setup over the patio. It looked great, but all the water from the main roof was dropping straight through the deck onto the lower patio... especially problematic in the winter.

The solution was to have a roof framed in and install gutters to control the water.

Before gutters were installed, a heavy rainstorm came through and started washing out the landscaping. If you look closely at the first photo (bottom right), you can see where the ground dropped several inches.

That’s the real takeaway; gutters aren’t just there to catch water, they control where it goes and protect everything below.

Last summer we installed this 88-foot long 6" aluminum box gutter across the front of this house on a 95° day.

And honestly… we were a little nervous about it.

Aluminum expands and contracts a lot, especially here in the Montana climate where we can see huge temperature swings. Long runs like this can sometimes move more than you'd expect.

Over time the gutter started to contract and twist slightly at the ends. It wasn’t a failure of the install, it was the material reacting exactly how aluminum sometimes does on very long spans.

So we came back and replaced it under warranty. This time, we are using STEEL. Steel doesnt expand as much as aluminum.

We knew going into the original install that this might happen…
We tried it anyway.

Turns out we were wrong.

But that’s part of doing things the right way. Test ideas, learn from them, and stand behind the work when something doesn’t perform how you expected.

Every project has its own set of challenges.

This one had standing seam wall panels that didn’t allow our half round brackets to sit where they needed to. Off-the-shelf wasn’t an option.

With the help of a great builder partner, custom spacer blocks were fabricated so we could bring the 6" half round gutter system out to the correct plane and install it the right way.

Clean look. Proper function. No shortcuts.

This is what it takes to make specialty gutters work on modern mountain builds.

Snow coming off a standing seam metal roof has serious force behind it.

On this project we installed ColorGard snow retention to control that release and protect the gutter system below. Without a retention system, one slide can tear gutters right off the fascia and cause major damage.

This is one of those upgrades that most people never notice — but it’s doing the heavy lifting all winter long.

Built for Montana conditions.
Installed the right way.
