Bee Removal in Katy – Real Case Study for Homeowners
A homeowner in Katy contacted me after seeing a large swarm of bees arriving near his home. From inside the house, they noticed the activity through the window and waited for the swarm to settle before checking outside. Once the bees calmed down, they saw that the colony was entering through a small gap on the side of the house and immediately looked for professional help.
He called me around 11 AM, and because we were finishing a complex job, we scheduled an inspection for later that afternoon around 5 PM. When we arrived, the bees were entering through a gap in the eave, and based on the activity, we initially suspected the hive might be inside the roof area. The homeowner mentioned that the attic was fully insulated with foam, which made it unlikely for bees to enter that space. That gave us a clue that the hive could be forming inside the rafter area or behind the siding.
Because the day had been hot, the infrared camera showed multiple heat points, making it difficult to identify the exact location. Still, the homeowner did not want to risk the bees spreading deeper into the structure, especially with small children in the home. We agreed to return the next morning to perform a full bee removal, regardless of where the hive was located.
The next morning, with cooler temperatures, the thermal camera finally revealed a clear heat signature behind the siding, very close to the roofline. When we opened the material, we found the hive hidden in a small corner where the insulation had not reached. The homeowner was right: the entire attic and walls were insulated, but the bees found the only unprotected space.
We removed the hive completely, cleaned the cavity, and performed a full sterilization treatment to prevent bees from returning to the same location. We also repaired and sealed the soffit area to protect the structure and ensure long‑term results.
If you see bees entering and exiting from the same spot—especially roof edges, gaps in siding, or openings in the eaves—there is a high chance a colony is forming inside. A bee removal service is not a DIY task. Professional tools and experience are required to avoid structural damage and prevent bees from returning.
