Saturday is 10 years. This moment seemed like a lifetime away when we started, but came so incredibly fast. Lawns and More has seen the birth of 4 of my 5 children and the death of one. It has brought both tears and joy. In all of it I have so much to be thankful for.
My Wife. Thank you for believing in me and my crazy ideas. (Ask her about the first mower I bought, her only moment of doubt and a great story for another time). You have sacrificed so much more than anyone will ever understand for this business. Without you, without your sacrifice, without your constant love, none of this would exist. You are a true gift from God.
Miguel. Thank you for being the very first to quit a job to come work with me. We have been through a lot of change together! Thank you for your patience as I have continued to learn how to lead this team.
Nick. You moved your family from out of state to join us. You believed enough in what we are building to walk away from a wonderful job and better pay. You always have my back and call me on my bu****it. Thank you! I don’t know what I would do without you.
Bob. You have brought so much wisdom to our team. Our talks, your encouragement and insight, as well as your friendship will always be treasured.
Rick. You have been a true gift. What started as me needing someone to roll a lawn turned into one of my most treasured friendships.
Joseph. You live a life that continually points to Christ. Your patience and wisdom I admire so much. Your friendship has made me a better man.
Billy. Thank you for calling me every month until we had a job for you! Our youngest hire. Little did either of us know what a friendship would grow out of that. I am so proud of the man you have become. Stay focused on Christ and He will always guide your ways.
Curtis. A friendship over 24 years, and one I am forever grateful for! Thank you for always taking my call and being there with advice and encouragement. We always talked about one day each running our own companies. We are truly living out our childhood dreams.
Todd. Your example has taught me how to be a leader and how to treat my employees. How to manage a business and finances with integrity. Your impact on my life has been a true blessing to me and my family. Lawns and More will always be indebted to you.
To the rest of my team. You each have become like a second family. Your work and commitment is always appreciated. You each have been a massive blessing to me and my family, and my prayer is that Lawns and More has been the same to you and yours. I truly desire to care for each of you the best I can. I am so excited to see where we will be in another 10 years!!!
To my clients. Thank you. Thank you for letting me provide for my family while serving you. Thank you for letting my team provide for their families. Thank you for letting me live out a dream. While we have had plenty of hard days through the life of the business, you have made it truly a joy to continue on and a blessing to serve you. I am so grateful to be able to come here to work each and every day. There is no other job I would want.
Our first two clients both moved out of state, our third client we still have the honor of serving. Thank you Kate for trusting us all these years!! You have been patient during our growth pains and always so kind to the team. Thank you!
Lawns and More was never really supposed to be what it is today. It was supposed to be a side hustle to make ends meet. Then we dared to dream that one day I could quit and do this full time by myself. As we grew and God continued to bless our efforts, I knew there had to be a bigger purpose. It was never supposed to be about cutting grass, or hanging Christmas lights, or plowing snow. Those are a means to an end, but what is that end? Glory to God. Not in a slogan, not in something we tell clients, not in a moving testimonial of God’s blessings. It is in how we humbly serve others, how we work with integrity. How we care and love those around us. In the opportunity our team has to provide for their families while working in a clean, safe, and uplifting environment. In the teenagers we have been able to watch grow into young men and encourage. In the way we have been given opportunities to encourage a brother or sister in Christ or quietly share the gospel with someone in need. It has been for the clients who cried in our arms while sharing about a deep hurt and the clients who we can pray with for healing. In the joy we can share with both our team and clients when they have been blessed. This is our purpose. Living daily as a humble example of Christ. We fail daily at it but will never stop trying. These are quiet moments, the moments that cannot be scripted but just happen as we go about our days. Lawn care, and all the more that comes with it, is the means by which we serve a greater purpose. That purpose is best served by our efforts to continually give our clients the best they deserve. Our quality and service is not just good business, it is our testimony and opportunity to share the Gospel in all the little things we do. God has given us so much beauty, and I am thankful we get to care for it. Adam was a gardener, so landscape maintenance truly is the original profession.
Here’s to not just another 10 years, but Lord willing many many decades and many generations. Thank you so much!!
