Kitchen Island Makeover: The Full Transformation (full video will be posted on YouTube)

What started as a simple island… turned into a full step-by-step transformation - and every detail mattered.

From removing doors, protecting surfaces, masking, prepping, sanding… all the way to the final finish - this is your reminder that the prep work is the process

And here’s the truth most people don’t talk about:

The difference between a DIY project that looks “okay” and one that looks professionally done is everything you do before the paint.

If you’ve been watching this series thinking, “I want my kitchen to look like this…”

This is your sign.

Whether you’re ready to tackle it yourself or want it done for you - we can help you get that clean, elevated finish without the guesswork.

Drop “ISLAND” in the comments or send us a DM to get started

Save this series so you don’t miss a step—and share it with someone who’s been putting off their kitchen upgrade.

Which do you like better? Before or after?

The Kitchen Island Reno Series is complete

One island
One upgrade
One small change that transformed the whole kitchen.

Sometimes you don’t need a full renovation - just the right finish, done the right way.

Because one small change can turn like into love.

Tell me in the comments : Before or After?

If your kitchen island needs a refresh, DM “ISLAND” and let’s make it happen.

Rainy season in Washington = painters daydreaming about this.

Straight lines.
Dry weather.
Fresh paint that actually cures.

Until then… we wait, prep, and pray for a break in the clouds.

Tag a Washington painter who understands the struggle.

PART 6: The step that separates DIY from PRO cabinets.

We’ve made it to New Jersey in the Island Series.

And this is where the finish really happens.
The cabinet doors are prepped, dusted off, and ready to spray.

Here’s the setup we’re using:
-Titan 440 sprayer
-410 fine finish tip
-Smooth, even passes for that factory-level cabinet finish

Why spray instead of rolling?
Because rollers (especially foam) often leave tiny bubbles and texture in the paint.

Spraying with a fine finish tip gives you:
1. ultra smooth coats
2. no roller texture
3. a true professional look

After spraying, the doors go straight into the drying room so they can cure before we flip them.

And honestly…
These cabinets are looking flawless.

Tomorrow the final reveal of this island transformation.

Tell me in the comments:
Have you ever tried spraying cabinets before?

Follow for the final part of the Island Series - you don’t want to miss the finished kitchen.

Save this if you want your cabinets to look factory-finished, not DIY.

PART 5: The paint that actually holds
Most people ruin their kitchen island right here.
They grab cheap paint, rush the coats, and a few months later it’s chipping, scratching, and peeling.
Here’s what I use instead:
- Commercial-grade cabinet paint
- Dries in about 40 minutes
- Around $110/gallon, but the durability is on another level
If you want a store option, go with Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel.
It has urethane in it, which means:
- smoother finish
- stronger protection
- holds up to real kitchen use
Pro tip:
Keep your spray pace steady so you avoid drips.
Light sand between coats and your finish will look factory-level.
Next up… the step that makes the entire island look custom.
Tell me in the comments:
Should I test the Sherwin-Williams Gallery Series cabinet paint and review it?
Follow for the rest of the Kitchen Island Renovation Series.
If you want help with your own cabinets, DM “ISLAND” and I’ll walk you through options.
Save this so you remember which paint actually works.
