Our Story

In December 2013 I was working as a zipline guide and only getting a few hours a week in the off season. I had worked as an electrician in the past from 2005-2009, and because the company my dad worked for was unhappy with their current electrician I was given a chance to do some work on the side. That gave me the jump-start I needed, with only a few hand tools, a car, and a 6’ ladder I started doing simple projects for homeowners. I purchased a 13 year old truck with 190,000 miles, and in no time started buying more tools and getting more customers. Word of mouth grew and I was soon asked to work on larger projects that required more paperwork. First I needed a name, I made a list of several names I came up with and asked my family to vote on their favorite, Amped Up Electric won by a landslide. I officially opened Amped Up Electric with the State of Tennessee in June of 2014, I obtained my LLE (limited license electrician), and purchased general liability insurance. I started landing bigger jobs almost immediately, and have never felt more over my head. I remember staring at my computer screen for hours before submitting bids exceeding $20,000 in total fear I screwed something up. I have had amazing growth going on 5 years now with an arsenal of tools and have upgraded my work truck twice. I still continue to work for the individual homeowner taking on the smallest residential job or a large commercial job. My “secret” strategy for success: I answer the phone and return calls, show up when I say I will, finish the job neatly, charge a fair price, clean up after myself, and create relationships with my customers. This is not a get rich quick scheme for me, this is my company and I have spent 5 years building it.
