It's been a little quiet from this corner! No classes this month but I've been working on a project for a local church that is using art to tell the Easter story! I chose Jesus praying in the garden. I call it "Thy Will Be Done" It was very challenging and different than making a painting for a class that is simple enough for anyone to make and can be done in an hour. I loved studying the accounts in detail and learning as much as I could about Gethsemane and picturing realistically what the scene would have looked like. Mathew describes it this way..."Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” It was a dark, lonely, troubling moment, and yet it was a moment of surrender! God wasn't surprised by the cross, it was the plan all along. This week I was asked a tough question. Why do we call it Good Friday? It wasn't good at all. Jesus didn't do what was good for Him, He did what was good for all of us!!! And in the end...He is RISEN! That's as good as it gets! I invite you to come out to CBC to experience this piece and several others to take some time to put some pictures to the story!
