OK neighbors, let's talk roof vents, specifically mushroom vents. Texas home builders really like to use these large vents because our attics get really hot! Central Texas homes can have anywhere from 2-12 of these bad boys, along with ridge vents and smaller square vents. Some mushroom vents have fans inside them for more active ventilation but most are just passive. Some are metal with metal screens inside them, others are plastic. Regardless of the design and material, animals of all shapes and sizes have learned that these vents lead directly into a warm, dry space thats perfect living quarters for them!
Never fear, ATX Wildlife Removal has the perfect solution for protecting mushroom vents and other roof vents. Galvanized steel roof vent guards!!
Roofers, handymen, and even other wildlife companies often try to get by with flat steel screens installed from below or wrapped around the vent collar. But as you can see from some of these pics, those methods all fail when stronger animals are determined to defeat them. Flat screens also leave the vent open to birds and other smaller animals simply nesting inside the vent and cutting off the air flow. Only a steel vent guard installed on the outside will keep out those determined raccoons, ringtails, and squirrels, and preserve the venting function.
If you have mushroom vents, give us a call so we can help you protect them and keep animals from ruining your summer!
