If you’re someone facing a difficult season, struggles, or adversity, I want to share a powerful prayer that has helped countless people through moments when life feels heavy:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
There is a lot of strength packed into those words.
Sometimes our biggest battle comes from trying to control things that are completely outside of our hands. Other times, we know something needs to change, but fear, discomfort, or uncertainty keeps us from taking action.
This prayer asks for three things:
Serenity — the peace to stop fighting what you cannot control.
Courage — the strength to take action where you actually have the power to make a difference.
Wisdom — the ability to recognize which situation you’re facing.
Hard seasons can test you, humble you, and stretch you. But they can also teach you patience, discipline, faith, and perspective.
You may not be able to control what happened to you, what someone else chooses to do, or what tomorrow brings.
But you can control how you respond, what you learn, the decisions you make today, and whether you keep moving forward.
Sometimes peace comes from letting go.
Sometimes growth comes from taking action.
And sometimes wisdom is simply knowing which one God is asking you to do.
