🦫 Swamp Sweepers Animal of the Day: Muskrat
Muskrats are semi-aquatic mammals commonly found in marshes, ponds, lakes, and wetlands throughout North America. Excellent swimmers, they use their long tails and partially webbed feet to move through the water while feeding on cattails, reeds, and other aquatic plants. Their lodges and burrows create habitat for other wildlife and help shape wetland ecosystems.
If you spot a small brown animal cruising across the water with a thin tail trailing behind, there’s a good chance you’ve found a muskrat! 🌿🌊
