💥Big News💥 We’re merging!
Small news.. You probably already saw this coming. 😊

The Story-
Downing Construction was founded by Zach Downing in 2017. In seven years, he turned a one-man-band working on small residential renovations into a team of 4+, alongside a group of trusted, dedicated subs working on full homes and modular public work.

Many of the clients he built relationships with along the way often asked for design help. Megan Downing, Zach’s wife, became the go-to for all things design on most Downing Construction jobs.

Megan dreamed of building a larger design team. She founded Emerald House Studio in 2021, which became an LLC in 2023 after receiving her license to practice architecture.

Downing Construction and Emerald House Studio completed projects together, as well as separately over the past two years.

In October 2024 we’ve officially become one larger team to bring simplicity, well-rounded expertise, and a higher level of collaboration to our clients. As , we will continue to grow the business and guide the team toward exciting projects, new challenges, and long-lasting buildings.

Insulation Inspection ✅

Spray foam insulation, batt insulation, and air sealing are all now completed! Now that this milestone has been met, its time for the plastering to begin. Things are going to start moving very quickly now as we move towards the finish work.

Started a new project a couple weeks back. Two story “additional living space” with a 3 car garage on the first floor. We are moving right along with the site work and foundation. Started framing last week... the race is on to get it shelled in!

We’re starting to hint at the details with this kitchen design... our 42” uppers will actually be extending to full height with a crown and our island is showing the beginning of simple custom woodwork. With a little more craftsmanship and a few more pieces to the puzzle this place will soon be ready for the countertop installation! Stay tuned for the next steps!

Last Saturday we were fortunate enough to be invited back a client’s home to see one of our finished products! We framed out the area for an elevator installation, pictured above. Grateful for these thoughtful clients!

New year, even newer projects for the DC team! Each of these affordable multi family buildings will contain three units and were prefabricated in modular pieces. It’s our job to finish the work by taping the seams, framing out the basements, and all the other good stuff that will finish up the exteriors! It might be cold, but at least we get this sky in the evenings.
