Looks like another beautiful week ahead of us! THIS is the best weather of the year... change my mind! 😀

This new home's backyard bank was a little steep for regular mowing... he said it might be fine, she said it won't be fine. 🤣 I suggested a steep slope native wildflower mix. This is year one, and it still has some maturing to do. There are also some weeds from the building site that will need some management in the future.

Next year, it will be frost seeded with some additional wildflowers. This year, they requested some poppies in the mix but it was too late to plant them. Next year we'll add some in!

The best thing about this bank? The client's comment "My grandchildren loved it! They were always coming out here to pick the wildflowers". Now I'm thinking about where I can do this at my own home!

Can't stop posting lighting pix! Why? Well, days are short so getting the shots is much easier! And, quite frankly... I hate the shortening days. Lighting is a way to enjoy the outdoors a little longer!

This home was built last winter, and we installed the landscape, lighting, & hardscaping. It's only going to get more beautiful as the plantings mature!

Here's a project from a few years ago.... first we installed landscaping & lighting in the backyard around their new pool, then it was time to renovate the front! Landscape lighting is especially valuable this time of year, as many of us are coming home from work after dark. Who wouldn't want a well lit home to welcome you after a long day at work???

First... can we bring back summer???? Those pink mandevilla vines are perfection!

This project was special in a lot of ways. First, I love the opportunity to work on historic homes, and this was built in the early 1800s. Second, Churchtown is just a really cool village! Look at all those old homes in the background! Third, check out that hand dug well... no we didn't know it existed until we were excavating that area! That triggered a design change, and the well was saved. And fourth, check out that bell. We don't know the exact age, but it was an antique when the client's mother gifted it decades ago.

And fifth? Check out the soft lighting! If your patio is in the dark, consider this your sign to call us to light it up!

Lighting is a must on a wooded property! Woodland is cold and shadowy in the dark, but with lighting? It's magical. Uplighting on mature trees, soft downlighting on pathways, cafe lights over the gathering area. It begs you to come see what's at the end of the pathway! More pix to come....

Different views of the same laceleaf Japanese maple. The first is the "front" of the tree, the primary viewing angle. While much of the canopy isn't lit, the light grazes the irregular trunk and this becomes the highlight!
