A perfectly flat turf install is actually one of the biggest things that makes artificial grass look fake. Natural lawns are never laser level, they have subtle contours, soft transitions, and slight elevation changes that catch light differently throughout the yard.

Here’s why leaving a little natural variation matters:

* Creates realistic shadows and depth
Slight rolls and contour changes help the turf reflect sunlight naturally instead of looking like a flat green carpet.
* Avoids the “pool table” look
When turf is completely flat wall-to-wall, especially in residential backyards, it can look artificial and commercial. Small grade changes soften the appearance.
* Improves drainage flow
