Do you share your lawn with a furry friend?
We love our pets, but they can do some pretty crazy things to our lawn! Let's talk about dogs in particular:
Dog f***s and urine are highly acidic and can cause dead spots in your lawn. Not only that, just one gram of dog waste can contain 23 million f***l coliform bacteria, which can contaminate our waterways and cause illnesses in humans. Dogs are a very significant host of bacteria that is harmful to humans. These bacteria, when left to their own devices, will spread their way throughout your yard and house.
This isn’t just hype. In 1991 the EPA designated dog waste as an environmental pollutant, placing it in the same category as pesticides. If not cared for properly, you could infect yourself, your family, or really anyone (if dog p**p is left on public property) with parvo, trichinosis, whipworms, hookworms, roundworms, giardia, coccidia, and other troublemakers.
Luckily, cleaning up your dog's p**p regularly reduces the chances of contracting any of these nasty parasites/infections. So keep that lawn clear of dog p**p and definitely be sure to clean it up before mowing, as this will spread it all over your lawn!
As always, if you have any questions regarding your landscaping, give us a call! We love hearing from our clients and friends!
