“Design is the thread that weaves together the stories of our lives.”

Our homes are more than a collection of beautiful things. They are the backdrop to our lives.

They hold the quiet mornings and lively dinners. The celebrations, traditions and everyday moments. The pieces collected while traveling, the artwork that speaks to us, the heirlooms passed down through generations—and the new discoveries that become part of our story.

That’s why we believe the most beautiful interiors are deeply personal.

At Knudson Interiors, we design spaces that reflect not only how our clients want to live, but who they are. By thoughtfully blending old and new, beauty and function, refinement and personality, we create homes that feel collected rather than decorated.

Because great design shouldn't tell our story.

It should tell yours.

Have you ever walked into a room and thought, this just feels right—but couldn’t quite explain why?

Great design often works that way. Before you notice the furniture, finishes, or color palette, your eye is responding to a few fundamental principles happening quietly in the background.

Repetition creates rhythm. Repeating a shape, material, color, or finish gives a room continuity and makes individual choices feel intentional.

Symmetry creates a sense of order. Matching elements—or simply balancing them around a focal point—can make a space feel calm, polished, and effortlessly composed.

Visual weight is about balance, not size. A dark cabinet, substantial light fixture, bold piece of art, or richly patterned rug can carry more visual weight than several lighter elements. The right distribution keeps a room from feeling too heavy—or too empty.

Negative space gives design room to breathe. Not every wall needs art. Not every corner needs furniture. Sometimes what you leave out is just as important as what you put in.

Contrast creates interest. Light against dark. Old beside new. Sleek paired with textured. Curves against straight lines. Contrast is often what takes a beautiful room and makes it memorable.

The best interiors aren’t simply a collection of beautiful things. They’re a carefully considered relationship between them.

And once you understand these principles, something changes—you start seeing spaces differently. You notice why a room feels balanced, why your eye moves through it naturally, and why certain interiors stay with you long after you leave.

Good design gets your attention. Great design understands how to guide it.

California Casual Meets Timeless Sophistication

A fresh take on relaxed luxury in this beautiful Brentwood, California bedroom.

Warm neutrals, tailored stripes, rich wood tones, and layers of natural texture come together to create a space that feels effortlessly sophisticated yet completely inviting.

We love the contrast of crisp ivory bedding against charcoal stripes, the warmth of caramel accents, and the understated coastal photography that gives a subtle nod to California living.

The beauty is in the balance—classic patterns, organic materials, and thoughtful details that make a room feel collected rather than decorated.

Because great design isn't just about how a room looks. It's about how it makes you feel.

Designed for comfort. Styled for living.

Some design details simply have that it factor. They’re unexpected, timeless, and just a little indulgent—the elements that make a room feel collected rather than decorated.

A few details we find incredibly chic right now:

Art Deco lighting in a modern interior — a little glamour, geometry, and history against clean contemporary lines.

A pop of color in an otherwise neutral room — one confident moment can completely change the energy of a space.

Unique marble in a powder room — because small spaces are the perfect place to make a bold, luxurious statement.

Antique bronze and brass hardware — warm, aged finishes add depth and character that polished perfection simply can’t replicate.

Arched windows and doorways — architectural curves instantly soften a room and bring a sense of timeless elegance.

Distressed and antiqued mirrors — reflective, moody, and beautifully imperfect. We especially love them incorporated into cabinetry, bars, and statement walls.

The most memorable interiors aren’t defined by one particular style. They’re defined by the details—the unexpected mix of old and new, polished and imperfect, quiet and dramatic.

That’s where the magic happens.

A DESIGN MASCOT'S WORK IS NEVER DONE!

Dallas. Las Vegas. Design showrooms. Endless inspiration.

It's been a busy few weeks for Mochi, our four-legged design assistant and official Knudson Interiors mascot!

Between business trips, showroom visits, and keeping up with the latest in luxury interiors, this little girl is officially exhausted.

And after all that hard work? Only the best will do.

Mochi has claimed her favorite spot on our Restoration Hardware sofa, where the plush down cushions provide the perfect place to recover from her demanding schedule.

Because even the hardest-working design assistants appreciate a little luxury.

Sweet dreams, Mochi. You've earned it!

“The beauty of design lies in its ability to transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences.”

Great design is about so much more than creating a beautiful room.

It’s about walking into your home and immediately feeling a sense of calm. It’s a kitchen that makes you want to gather. A dining room that turns dinner into an occasion. A bedroom that feels like a retreat. A living space that invites you to stay just a little longer.

The most successful interiors don’t simply change the way a space looks—they change the way you experience it.

Through thoughtful space planning, beautiful materials, layers of texture, intentional lighting and those final, carefully considered details, even the most ordinary space can become something extraordinary.

At Knudson Interiors, that transformation is at the heart of what we do.

We don’t just design rooms. We create experiences.

A shower niche may be a small detail, but getting it right can make the entire bathroom feel more custom, intentional, and luxurious.

A few designer secrets we swear by:

Skip the accent tile. Continuing the shower tile through the niche creates a cleaner, more seamless look.

Size it for real life. Design the niche around your tallest shampoo and product bottles—not just what looks good on paper.

Use a stone sill instead of tile. A solid piece of stone means fewer grout joints, easier cleaning, and a more elevated finish.

Go full width. Extending the niche across the width of the shower creates a dramatic architectural detail and gives you plenty of functional storage.

Choose mitered stone edges. Instead of visible metal trim, mitered stone edges create a beautifully tailored, high-end finish.

Great bathroom design isn't just about selecting beautiful materials. It's about knowing the little details that make those materials look—and function—better.

Save this for your next bathroom remodel.

Choosing a sofa color is about more than picking a shade you love—it’s about creating the foundation for the entire room.

Your sofa is often one of the largest pieces in the space, so its color has a major influence on how the room feels. Before you choose, think about the mood you want to create:

Warm Beige — soft, inviting and effortlessly timeless.
Soft Brown — rich, grounded and naturally sophisticated.
Cream — light, elegant and perfect for an airy aesthetic.
Taupe — understated and versatile with a beautifully tailored feel.
Sand Beige — relaxed warmth that works especially well with organic textures.
Charcoal Grey — dramatic, modern and ideal for adding depth and contrast.
Off White — fresh, refined and a beautiful backdrop for layered neutrals.

One of our favorite designer tips? Don’t choose your sofa color in isolation. Consider your flooring, wall color, natural light, rugs and other finishes. And always look at the fabric sample in your actual space—color can change dramatically from morning to evening.

A neutral sofa doesn’t have to mean a neutral room. It gives you the freedom to introduce personality through pillows, throws, artwork, accent chairs and accessories—and update those pieces as your style evolves.

At Knudson Interiors, we believe the best rooms begin with thoughtful choices that work beautifully together.

Which would you choose: Warm Beige, Soft Brown, Cream, Taupe, Sand Beige, Charcoal Grey or Off White?

The difference between a surface that feels decorated and one that feels beautifully collected is all in the layering.

The goal isn’t perfection—or filling every inch. It’s creating a mix of objects that feels interesting, personal, and as though it evolved over time.

ADD SOMETHING UNEXPECTED
Every arrangement needs a little tension. Add an object that makes someone look twice—a sculptural piece, vintage find, small piece of art, unusual vessel, travel treasure, or something with a sense of humor. The unexpected is often what gives a room personality.

FOLLOW THE 60/40 RULE
Think 60% decorative + 40% functional. Beautiful objects create the story, while useful pieces keep the space livable. On a coffee table, that might mean art books and a sculptural bowl mixed with coasters or a beautiful box that hides the remote.

STYLE IN ODD NUMBERS
Groups of three or five tend to feel more natural and visually interesting than perfectly symmetrical pairs. Try grouping a stack of books, a decorative object, and a small vase together rather than lining everything up individually.

VARY HEIGHT, SCALE + SHAPE
Mix tall with short, round with angular, and substantial pieces with smaller accents. If everything is the same height and size, the eye has nowhere to go.

LAYER—DON’T LINE UP
Place an object on top of a stack of books. Lean a small piece of art behind another object. Let pieces overlap slightly. Layering creates depth and makes a vignette feel collected rather than staged.

The most interesting homes don’t look like they were decorated in a day. They feel layered, personal, collected and lived in.

That’s where the magic happens.

🐾 Mochi's Seal of Approval! 🐾

At Knudson Interiors, we believe great design should look beautiful AND feel amazing. And who better to put that philosophy to the test than our very own mascot, Mochi?

Today's assignment? Quality control on the bedding!

Mochi takes her job very seriously—testing softness, evaluating comfort, and making sure every layer meets her exceptionally high standards.

After a thorough inspection, we're happy to report that the bedding has officially earned the Mochi 5-Paw Approval! 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

Because luxury isn't just about how a space looks…it's about how it makes you feel.

And judging by Mochi's expression, we may have a hard time getting her to check out!
