Very nice Michael (MKS). It's always cool to find out about a famous musician that uses your gear when you had no idea. I'm sure you and I have others out there as I have found out about some in roundabout ways many times in the past. Usually someone from their management places the order and often we have no idea. You and I (MKS Pedal Pad and Stompin-Ground) have been doing this a long time. Small world... hey Frank! ... and a shout out to Michael at Helweg Design too. Between the 3 of us pedalboard guys, right here in the center of the US, we can offer a player any solution for their rig.

Bassist and founding member from Purple Reign, Jason Underwood, needed a quick solution. A full pedalboard rig under 50 lbs so he could avoid overage fees during his frequent fly dates. Delivery time was critical as well so we decided this would be a joint effort between us and him. He’s handy with tools so he opted to do the finishing touches by mounting the riser to save time. He wanted a “live-in” or “stay-in-the-tray” type of pedalboard that was mounted to the base of the case with a hard, non-Velcro, top.

We used our Dura-Light case construction for it's light weight. We added the main pedalboard panel made of a tough semi hollow light weight composite material. We supplied rubber motor mounts for him to attach it to the case. This gave it isolated shock resistance for protection. We also supplied the riser panel made from the same material and Jason added the aluminum hardware to mount it to the pedal board surface.

In the end, Jason got his entire rig set up with great protection in the case plus our tilt wheel system to make it easy to roll around all at just under 50 lbs. Setting up is quick, easy and consistent show after show.

We make many types of custom specialty cables. Here's a note and example from one of our customers:

"Thanks for the fine, custom TS to XLR male connection cable. I needed a special cable to connect my compact PA system to my powered subwoofer. The sub only had female XLR inputs, the PA subwoofer out was only a TS, 1/4 phone style output. The 1/4 phone connector had to be TS only (not TRS) in order to engage the cross over in the PA. No one had such a cable locally. I contacted you at Stompin' Ground and you immediately advised you could create such a cable and asked me a series of questions regarding the wiring for the cable. Your suggestion for the wiring was right on, the cable works great and is of excellent quality! I'm a happy customer! Here are some photos of the cable and connection points."

One of the choices offered on our pedalboard patch cables is to have "opposing" right angle plugs. This means the right angled plugs can be orientated in the opposite direction along the length of the cable, viewed when the cable is laying in a straight line. Having opposing right angles make it easier in some situations to use a patch cable without having to twist it into position. In this photo, the cable on top has opposing right angles. The cable in the center is a standard right angle cable. For reference, the cable on the bottom has one right angle and one short frame straight plug. Right angle plug orientation does not really matter when the other end is straight.

Still plugging away at the new site. Got about 11 pages done, only about 400 to go... haha. It'll take a while. It's funny that back in the mid 90's, we were at the cutting edge of technology with our website and eCommerce capabilities. Not many people had that. We got really busy over those next 10 years producing the nice pedalboard items you know and love. In recent years we've noticed how far behind we got not keeping up with social media and most importantly our website.
