I had the unique opportunity to do something a bit different than usual. I was contacted to refinish the, almost 100 year old maple, floors at the post office in Higginsville, MO. To put it nicely, these floors beat up. This was also a time sensitive project so I needed a finish that would cure fast so I went with Pallman Magic Oil 2k, a fantastic product that offers great protection.

There was quite a bit that went into this. The kitchen had a fairly big area that needed pulled up and replaced, 11 registers that were replaced for new flushmount vents, then everything sanded down. They decided to go with natural color with whitener. We're loving the way this one turned out!

Every now and then, one comes along that you're just not so sure about. This is that one. I knew coming in that it was going to be a bit different. Every really old building is. But when she said she wanted to leave some of the paint because it tells the story of the church it used to be, I wasn't surprised. I just didn't know that they wanted that much left.
The red paint was original, I think, and was where the pews sat. Then, somewhere along the lines, it was painted black on top of that. We were asked to leave plenty of the red and black but also show some of the raw wood at the same time... 🙃 mission accomplished!

An amazing before and after! For reference, the before isn't what the customer started with, it was what he was left with from a different contractor. A patch in the hardwood what was a different species, not stained and a finish that I would never use in a customers house due to its insufficiency. These floors are over 100 years old with plenty of life left in them. After a very detailed sanding we stained them with Lobas new stain and topped them off with Loba Hybrid. The new homeowners will be set for years!
