Fix It Friday | Throwback Edition 🔧

Here’s a look at an older electrical system featuring a Square D panel and cloth-insulated wiring.

Cloth wiring was a common method of wiring homes before the insulated conductors we use today became standard. While some older cloth wiring can remain serviceable, age, heat, moisture, and previous electrical work can all affect the condition of the insulation.

That’s why an inspection is important when dealing with an older electrical system. It’s not just about how the panel looks — it’s about what’s happening throughout the system, from the panel to the outlets and everything in between.

If your home still has an older panel and cloth-insulated wiring, it might be time to think about updating the panel and bringing your electrical system up to today’s standards.

Not sure what you have hiding behind the walls? Give Flying V Electric a call and we’ll be happy to take a look.

Sometimes it’s the smallest electrical upgrade that makes the biggest difference!

This week, we added an outlet behind the TV—no more cords stretching down the wall or outlets sitting awkwardly below. Just a cleaner, more finished look.

✨ Simple fix.
✨ Big difference.
✨ Cleaner space.

Fix-It Friday 🔧

Flying V Electric was called out to secure an electrical meter that had pulled away from the home. Evergy had tagged the meter during their recent meter replacement process, requiring the issue to be corrected.

Flying V Electric was able to rework the existing conduit and properly fasten the meter back to the home, ensuring the meter and electrical equipment were securely supported and helping prevent potential electrical issues.

Another small repair that can prevent a bigger problem and help keep your home’s electrical service safe and reliable.
