Shots from our first day of Bee S’cool at Oak Forest Community Garden + a peek at some of the produce you’ll find at Saturday’s Farmer’s Market! Come learn about bees and knock out a little grocery shopping while you’re here. 🌶🫛

Join us Saturday from 10 AM–Noon as we dig into Pestanagement and get hands-on experience doing Mite Tests. Whether you’re brand new to bees or ready to sharpen your skills, come learn with us!

What a way to kick off fall! 🍂🐝

This past Saturday was filled with incredible wisdom, generous conversations, and a whole lot of shared love for bees, pollinators, and our Central Arkansas community.

A HUGE thank you to Community Bakery for keeping us fueled with delicious treats and to the CALS Library System for giving us a welcoming space to gather, learn, and connect. 💛

And we’re just getting started! Bee S’cool begins THIS WEEK, where we’ll take all that good conversation into the garden for hands-on beekeeping experience at local community gardens.

We kicked things off Saturday at the Main Library with a room full of Beekeepers, Hive Hosts, Apprentices, and folks ready to learn something new this fall. 💛

And because every good school day needs snacks, a HUGE thank you to Community Bakery for donating treats to keep us fueled! 🍪

What does honey sound like? 🍯👂🌼

Recently, we joined a group of adults experiencing memory changes to explore honey and honeybees through the senses. We tasted honey from different neighborhoods, smelled flowers, listened to the hum of real honeybees, and even learned why bees feel fuzzy!

Learning doesn’t always mean sitting down with a book. Sometimes it’s tasting, smelling, listening, observing, asking questions, and experiencing something for yourself. 🐝💛 That kind of curiosity and hands-on learning is exactly what we’re bringing to Bee S’cool this fall.

These beekeepers started with us this spring, and look at ’em now! 🐝💛

They’re working in pairs to get more comfortable inspecting hives independently. Having a buddy means there’s someone to compare notes with, ask “wait, what do you see?” and build confidence making decisions together.

Some of us are book learners. Some of us need to get our hands in a hive before it really clicks. Most of us are a little bit of both!

That’s a big part of what we’re building with Bee S’cool this fall. Whether you’re brand new to beekeeping or have some experience under your veil, come learn something new, practice it together, and get more confident with the bees. 🍯

The bees need water too! 💦🐝🥵

It’s hot as the dickens, and adding front feeders with plain water is an easy way to help your hives beat the heat. If brood is looking a little low, sugar water can encourage the queen to lay as well!

These are the hives at Exalt Academy, located right on the school playground in Southwest Little Rock. 📚🌻 With students heading back to school, we’re getting teachers hands-on too, including learning how to check and refill the water feeders.

And school isn’t just for kids! 👀 Bee S’cool is enrolling now for adults who want to learn beekeeping alongside us this fall.

School is back in session—and so are the bees! 🐝🎒

We love getting to work with schools across Central Arkansas, and we’re partnering with our school communities to start the year off right.

Last week, we visited Pike View Early Education to practice hive safety with their families. We spotted baby bees growing, tasted honey straight from the hive, and learned the most important rule: when we get close to the bees, we always wear our veils!

Backpacks are packed, pencils are sharpened…but the classroom is outside! It's Bee S’cool! 🐝🎒

Kids aren’t the only ones who need opportunities to stay curious, try something new, and keep growing. This fall, we’re launching a hands-on workshop series for learners ages 13+—no beekeeping experience needed!
