It’s been a fun week for new stuff coming through R2R HQ. Today saw a delivery of this 1957 Danelectro U-1 and Maestro FZ-1B. Earlier this week I was very pleasantly surprised by Regrets serial number 1 arriving at my door. It’s my 2nd number 1 from Dave and gets me a little closer to the complete Non-Human collection (I think I’m missing two models). First notes on the U-1 and Maestro minus the Regrets, the Tele clip at the end featuring the Regrets! The world is full of cool s**t to make sound with and that’s pretty rad

I never get tired of making a good clean 6 way rotary input cap switch for the treble boosts. Something about the old military spec metallized hermetically sealed oil capacitors that I love. They may or may not be good for use in Aerospace any longer, but they sure work well for audio signal.

Huge thank you to everyone who picked up a pedal (or three) yesterday! It’s because of you that I get to have fun days like this New Pedal Day! I came across this 1974 Park Fuzz Sound on and now it lives here as R&D for a new PKIII run in the future. The first 35 PKIII were based on the exact specs from a 1970 Fuzz Sound I borrowed from so now the next 35 will be based on this exact unit. I really love that I have the opportunity to work with so many original fuzzes. It really informs how I tune my own. Thank you guys for being a huge reason why I’m able to work this way!

Looks like a regular old Cry Baby… until you pop open the hood and find that it’s an original Clyde McCoy inside. These super early Cry Baby sound insanely musical and have such a natural vocal-like quality. Congrats and big thanks to my friend and fellow East LA neighbor for letting me hang onto this holy grail wah for a bit and study it inside and out. Swipe through for a quick video clip paired with a Ge Distorter Deluxe (germanium fuzz face)

Some gutshots for all of you who love the nerdy little details! The next batch is set and I just sent out the email to the mailing list. Go check your inbox, spam folder or whatever folder you send my emails to. I’ve got these replica series pedals, a few Cash Boosts, some vintage wah, one last Electric Machine wedge and a bunch of pre-orders that will all be available this coming weekend.

Sitting down to work on Replica Series MK1.5 Fuzz numbers 5 & 6. These are part for part the most accurate I’m able to build. Both will be loaded with my last two 1.5 spec sets of Mullard branded OC75 “British Made” transistors. These are the exact ones found in the original units. I always enjoy when I get to work with these parts. These will be available soon in my shop. Keep an eye out for an email from me with all the details!

Just wrapped up Supa MKI Fuzz No 25. I’m making two of these Supa MKI in the MKII Tone Bender housing, in honor of the one-off I made my friend These are loaded up with 1960’s Sprague Vitamin Q caps, 25 features Mullard branded 1965-66 OC71 transistors and 26 will have non branded OC75. Both are fantastic in this circuit and bias exactly like my original Supa Fuzz MKI. Both also have these super rare Romar Chickenhead k***s. These will be available in my next drop “ready to ship” so no waiting (and you can use Affirm) sign up for the mailing list so you don’t miss out on the chance to snag one of these fun little fuzzes!

Back home from a quick Seattle trip and this bad boy was waiting here for me! I’ve never been a huge Big M**f guy, but any time I throw one on I’m captivated by the sheer wall of sound that comes out. This particular example is a 1st generation “Triangle” Big M**f Pi that dates to early 1973 (4th week of 73 to be exact) and sports the “magic” Fairchild FS36999 transistors. I can see why people would enjoy these ones. It sounds massive with a lot of great bite. I’m incredibly grateful to my friend for helping me secure this pedal, thank you again man I owe you one! Go check out his band you won’t be sorry.

You all know about my obsession with the first year Ibanez Talman TC530 by now right? Well here is some further proof. My dear friend came by to get this photo of the collection. I’m only 4 away from the complete set (the 4 foto-flame ones). Somehow I’ve managed to track down every single solid color and burst 1994 TC530. It’s involved bartering across the Atlantic (employing my man to ship it for me). Along with scouring reverb, Google, and Facebook Marketplace. I can’t imagine anyone else on the planet having a collection like this… if you do, let me know! I’d love to hear from other crazy Talman collectors.

I’m working on a couple sets of Replica Series Fuzzes for the next batch. These will be ready to ship at the drop (looking like early April). I’ll have two of each, Supa MKI but in a MKII Tone Bender enclosure with Mullard branded OC71, Replica MK1.5 Fuzz loaded with Mullard branded transistors and MKII Professional Fuzz loaded with Mullard branded OC81/OC81D transistors. This series is the very closest I can possibly build to an original unit. Each part is either the identical component found in the original, or a very, very close alternate from the same era and same quality. I’ve been able to compare them to several original examples and I’m proud to say they’re very tough to tell apart. I don’t get to build these often, but it’s always so much fun to work with parts of this caliber!

This is R2R Electric! Some time ago I got a few friends together and we put together this video about R2R. Huge “Thank You!” goes out to & for being a part of this. Shot at somewhere in Southern California.
