Inspired by a childhood memory of a framed artwork made with real butterfly wings spelling “Blessing, Prosperity, Longevity,” this work reflects on the tension between nature and human desire. These artificial butterflies, crafted from plastic and thread, mimic the beauty of life but lack function and vitality. Just as the real butterflies were sacrificed for symbolic meaning, these plastic ones are manufactured imitations—lifeless yet evocative. Both embody desire, absence, and loss. Suspended between memory and reality, the butterflies remain in a state of longing: for flight, for life, for something just out of reach.

어린 시절, 실제 나비의 날개로 ‘복(福)·록(祿)·수(壽)’라는 글자를 만든 액자에서 영감을 받아 시작된 이 작업은 자연과 인간의 욕망 사이의 긴장을 다룹니다. 플라스틱과 실로 만들어진 이 인공 나비들은 생명을 흉내 내지만 기능과 활기를 잃은 존재입니다. 과거의 나비들이 상징을 위해 희생되었듯, 이 나비들 또한 욕망에 의해 만들어진 모방물입니다. 생명과 감각이 결여된 채, 이 나비들은 여전히 무언가를 갈망합니다—비행을, 생명을, 닿을 수 없는 무언가를.

Gana Art LA is pleased to present 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘥𝘥 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, a solo exhibition by Yoo Keun Young, who portrays a peculiar forest where otherworldly trees, flowers, and foliage weave an entrancing landscape. This exhibition explores his artistic world, capturing nature from a unique perspective, spanning works from the 1990s to his recent works. Unfamiliar shapes, vibrant colors, and contrasting textures converge to evoke great emotional intensity. The artist invites viewers to explore feelings of unease and uncertainty as they navigate a strangely familiar yet disorienting landscape of beauty. Let your subconscious respond to Yoo’s surreal garden, where you may find yourself suspended between harmony and discord, calm and chaos.

가나아트 엘에이는 독특한 형태의 나무, 꽃, 이파리를 통해 환상적인 화면을 그려온 유근영의 개인전 《The Odd Nature》를 개최한다. 본 전시는 독창적인 시각으로 자연을 화폭에 담아내는 그의 작업 세계를 1990년대 작품부터 신작에 이르기까지 폭넓게 선보이고자 한다. 낯선 형태, 선명한 색채, 충돌하는 질감이 어우러진 그의 작품은 아름다운 동시에 혼란스러운 감정을 불러일으킨다. 유근영의 초현실적인 정원을 선보이는 이번 전시가 조화와 불협화음, 평온과 혼돈 사이에 놓인 자신을 발견하고 잠재의식을 일깨우는 시간이 되기를 기대한다.

지루한 여름 끝자락에서 가을을 고대하며 윤지선 작가의 개인전 소식을 전합니다. 작가가 초중고등학교 시절을 보낸 ‘수원’에서 뜻 깊은 개인전을 가집니다.

전시는 예술공간 아름에서 2024년 8월 20일부터 9월 1일까지 열립니다. 8월 20일 화요일 늦은 오후 5시에 작가와의 만남이 있습니다. 작가는 전시장에 금, 토, 일에 있습니다.

As the dreary days of summer draw to a close and we look forward to autumn, we are pleased to announce a solo exhibition by artist Yoon Ji Seon. This meaningful exhibition takes place in Suwon, where the artist spent her childhood and school years.

The exhibition will be held at Art Space Areum from August 20, 2024, to September 1, 2024.

An artist talk is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, at 5 PM. The artist will be present at the exhibition on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

국내 최초 한센인 정착촌이 있는 여수시 율촌면 도성길 43 에그갤러리에서 윤지선 작가 개인전 Rag face가 열립니다. 전시 기간은 2024년 4월 19일부터 5월 8일이며 관람시간은 오전 10시부터 오후 5시까지입니다. 일요일과 공휴일은 휴관입니다.

Artist Yoon Ji Seon’s solo exhibition Rag Face will be held at Egg Gallery, 43 Doseong-gil, Yulchon-myeon, Yeosu-si, where Korea‘s first leprosy settlement is located. The exhibition period is from April 19 to May 8, 2024, and viewing hours are from 10 am to 5 pm. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.

윤지선 작가가 여수에 위치한 에그갤러리 그룹전 ’세가지 자문‘에 참여 중입니다.
윤작가의 Rag face #21003, #21005 두 작품이 전시 중에 있습니다.

이 전시는 대한민국 문화도시 선정을 위해 주력하고 있는 여수시와 공동 개최하고 사회복지법인 여수애양병원, 여수애양오케스트라 FROM, 도성지역발전협의회가 후원합니다.

* 전시주제: 세자기 자문(自問)
* 참여작가: 강신호, 김기희, 김주영, 박경희, 박동화, 박미정, 박성희, 박치호, 윤지선, 이나경, 이말용, 이인혜, 이정용, 정현영, 한주연
* 회화, 설치, 사진 등 35점 전시
* 기획의도: 2020년에 개봉한 영화 의 내용을 토대로 ’세 가지의 자문‘을 주제로 정했습니다. 3시간가량의 이 영화는 독일을 대표하는 게르하르트 리히터의 자전적 실화를 다룬 것입니다. 특히 요셉 보이스가 뒤셀도르프 대학교수로 재직할 당시 제자였던 리히터와의 5분간의 대화는 동시대 작가들에게 시사하는 바가 깊습니다. 요셉 보이스가 자기 자신에게 던진 3가지의 자문은 더욱 그렇습니다. 내가 진실로 아는 게 뭔지, 살면서 겪은 진정한 경험이 뭔지, 거짓 없이 말할 수 있는 건 뭔지에 대한 것입니다. 결국 이 세 가지에 대한 자문은 나는 누구이고, 나는 무엇인지에 대한 스스로의 해답을 요구하고, 자신의 작품에서 ’자기‘라는 존재와 ’자기 자신이 온전히 이해해서 표현되는 그 무엇‘ 이 핵심적이다는 결론입니다. 영화 속 리히터는 요셉 보이스의 말에 충격을 받고 기존 작품을 불사르고 자기 자신은 ’기억‘라는 정의를 내리게 됩니다. 두 사람의 대화 내용을 모태로 작가들 스스로 세 가지 자문을 통해 자기 자신이 온전히 이해하는 그 무엇에 대해 표현하거나 재현해 보고자 합니다. 이를 통해 오늘날 예술과 예술 작업의 본질이 무엇인지 고민해 보고자 합니다. ✔️베드포드 갤러리 설치 사진

미국 캘리포니아 월넛크릭에 위치한 베드포드 갤러리에서는 현재 라는 주제로 그룹전시가 열리고 있습니다. 감사하게도 윤지선 작가도 이 그룹전에 참가하여 Rag face #19003이 전시 중에 있습니다.

윤작가의 Rag face 시리즈는 한번의 바느질로 위와 아래에 표정, 색감 그리고 질감이 다른 두개의 얼굴이 동시에 탄생합니다. 사실 갤러리나 미술관 여건 상 Rag face의 양면이 보이도록 설치하는 것은 쉬운 일이 아닙니다. 그래서 Rag face의 대부분의 설치는 전시하는 분이나 작가, 혹은 관객이 선호하는 면을 앞으로 하여 벽에 거는 편입니다.

하지만 너무나 감사하게도 이번 베드포드 갤러리에서는 Rag face #19003의 양면을 볼 수 있도록 천정으로부터 와이어를 내려 공중에 설치 해주셨습니다. 게다가 전문 포토그래퍼가 찍은 사진도 보내주셨습니다. 베드포드 갤러리의 는 2023년 6월 23일까지 계속됩니다.

The Bedford Gallery, located in Walnut Creek, California, is currently holding a group exhibition titled . Fortunately, artist Yoon Ji Seon participated in this group exhibition, so Rag face #19003 is on display.

Yoon’s Rag face series is created by sewing on self-portrait with an industrial sewing machine, and through this process, the top and bottom images are created simultaneously. In fact, it is not an easy task to install Rag face in mid-air because the conditions of galleries and museums vary. Therefore, most installations of Rag face series tend to be hung on the wall with the preferred side of the exhibitor, artist, or visitors.

But thankfully, at Bedford Gallery, a wire was lowered from the ceiling and installed in the air so that both sides of Rag face #19003 could be seen. In addition, the photographer took amazing pictures of the installation at the gallery. Thank you all!
