The Tiki Apartments is a 36-unit affordable apartment community for homeless individuals, which is designed with an array of supportive services for residents.

It consists of a mix of studios, one-bedroom and three-bedroom floorplans, and was constructed utilizing sustainable and energy efficient features to meet the GreenPoint rating standards.

The new development transformed a blighted motel and vacant apartment community into high quality urban infill housing that improves the overall consistency of the neighborhood by aiding in the need for quality affordable housing for homeless individuals throughout the region.

An unusual district project where I created an outdoor plaza for teachers to gather. Two large pergolas, shade trees, and lots of seating. To facilitate drainage in a flat enclosed courtyard, I designed an angular dry stream bed that slices through the space. Looking forward to the mature landscape I see in my mind.

In collaboration with Gonzalez Goodale Architects, we developed the exterior activity and gathering spaces utilizing bright colored play surfaces, play equipment, amphitheater seating, giant pots, and plantings.
Their mission statement is: In an environment of love, care and hope, Villa Esperanza Services provides the tools and support necessary for children, adults and seniors with special needs to achieve their goals, live fulfilling lives and embrace a sense of belonging and acceptance.

So proud of my collaboration with Doug Levine (interior design & furniture) & Thomas Stallman (interior architecture) on a challenging renovation of an existing spec house in Benedict Canyon.

For those that wonder what a landscape architect does, elements of my design include: entry stairs, wood deck, remodeled pool/spa, paving/walks, firepit, built-in seating, pots, wall veneers, all plantings, and lighting

The new Trudy & Norman Louis Apartments in Sunland are helping bring chronically homeless in off the streets.

A permanent supportive housing project for previously homeless single adults living with mental illness (completed in 2012) for Los Angeles Family Housing with Gonzalez Goodale Architects. We are honored they renamed the building after our featured trees in the courtyard!

Originally built in 1889 as a fashionable hotel and retail block in the new Boyle Heights neighborhood, this building fell into severe disrepair a few years ago. Across from Mariachi Plaza, it was brought back to life recently as a much-needed affordable housing project with a compatible adjacent addition. Much of the landscape was incorporated into the new addition in the bright courtyard over the garage or around the perimeter in bioswales. This project is the recipient of a 2013 Los Angeles Conservancy Preservation Award.
