We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Pacific Palisades Urban Forest Master Plan. With the goal of providing homeowners with guidance on street tree selection, the plan is a collaboration between Palisades residents, community leaders, and professionals to ensure that green infrastructure in Pacific Palisades becomes part of the community's rebuilding process.
With support from CD 11 Councilmember Traci Park and the cooperation of Bureau of Street Services (StreetsLA), Pacific Palisades Community Council, Palisades Forestry Committee, and DWP, the work will be divided into two phases, Phase I: Master Plan, and Phase II: Planting and Maintenance.
During Phase 1 the team will analyze and map existing conditions; incorporate community input; make block-by-block tree recommendations; and outline best management practices. The plan will strengthen community identity and beautification while offering resilience against climate change and fire. It will be a living document, allowing for future evaluations and updates, and will be available both online and in booklet form for use by the community.
LGLA will be collaborating with landscape architects Pamela Palmer, RLA, ASLA, ARTECHO Architecture and Landscape Architecture, and Kelly Comras, RLA, FASLA, Kelly Comras Landscape Architecture and Palisades resident; David Card, president of Palisades Forestry Committee and Palisades resident; Wally Marks III, vice-president of Palisades Recovery Coalition, Palisades resident and Fiske Street block captain; and Randy Young, vice-president of Pacific Palisades Historical Society and author of Santa Monica Canyon, A Walk Through History. Arborists Nick Araya, BCMA and Karina Nordbak, BCMA, co-owners of , will be consulting and providing their expertise.
Previous master plans created by PPUFMP committee members include those completed for Culver City and Santa Monica. Link in bio.
