A rare splash of sunshine from our private greenhouse. 🌼

Most people recognize Clivia by its familiar orange blooms, but every once in a while nature produces something truly special. This Yellow Clivia (Clivia miniata) is a prized cultivar, highly sought after by collectors and plant enthusiasts for its uncommon buttery-yellow flowers and striking contrast against deep green foliage.

Native to the shaded woodland habitats of South Africa and Eswatini, Clivia has been cultivated for generations as a treasured ornamental plant. While orange forms are the standard, yellow-flowering varieties are the result of rare genetics and careful propagation, making them far less common and considerably more valuable. These plants are often passed between collectors and can take years to mature into flowering specimens.

At The Green Scene, our roots are in landscaping, and plant selection remains one of our favorite parts of every project. Great design is not just about hardscape, pools, or structures—it’s about discovering those special botanical elements that create conversation, evoke emotion, and bring a landscape to life.
