1925 Duesenberg Model A Sport Touring

America’s first production automobile powered by a straight-eight engine emerged from the Duesenberg brothers’ Indianapolis factory in 1926, incorporating racing-derived technology that included four-wheel hydraulic brakes with finned aluminum drums.

The 260 cubic inch single overhead cam engine produced 88 horsepower, drawing directly from competition powerplants that achieved success at the 1921 French Grand Prix and dominated the 1922 Indianapolis 500, where eight of the top ten finishers relied on Duesenberg engines.

Following the November 1925 debut at New York’s Hotel Commodore, production commenced with bodies supplied by Millspaugh & Irish of Indianapolis, Fleetwood, and Brunn, offering touring, phaeton, roadster, and sedan configurations on the 134-inch wheelbase chassis.

Financial challenges limited output to approximately 650 examples through 1927, when E.L. Cord acquired the struggling Duesenberg Automobile and Motors Company. The Model A established technical innovations that informed the later Model J’s development.

1965 Ford Mustang Fastback

The fastback body style joined the Mustang lineup for the 1965 model year, with the new 2+2 fastback introduced in late summer 1964 as part of the full 1965 model run (after the early 1964½ cars).

Designated as a "2+2" configuration, the new fastback featured swept-back rear glass with distinctive ventilation louvers and a fold-down rear seat, drawing design inspiration from European sports cars like the Ferrari 250 GTO and Jaguar E-Type.

Power options ranged from the base 200 CI (3.3 L) inline-six producing 120 horsepower to three versions of the 289 CI (4.7 L) V8: a two-barrel carbureted unit with 200 horsepower, a four-barrel version with 225 horsepower, and the high-performance "Hi-Po" K-code variant delivering 271 horsepower.

The GT Equipment Package, available with V8 engines, added grille-mounted fog lamps, rocker panel stripes, front disc brakes, and additional interior gauges. Transmission choices included three-speed manual, four-speed manual, or three-speed automatic configurations.

Of the 559,451 Mustangs built for the full 1965 model year, 77,079 were fastbacks.
