In The Beginning

My first experience in this business came in 2004 only 3 months after purchasing my first home in Orlando Florida. Three hurricanes hit my home, including a Category 3 Hurricane by the name of Charlie, over a 6 week period! I interviewed many contractors and just never felt fully comfortable with any of them, or their explanation of the process, so I started learning about insurance, and contracting. It took me about ten months to fully settle my claim at more than 5x the initial offer from my carrier. I was a mortgage broker and realtor at the time, but knew at that moment I would end up in the storm restoration business. People like myself needed real help, and with what I learned, I knew I could be an asset to homeowners.

In 2008 when the market crashed I picked up that file from my personal claim, and refreshed my memory of what I had learned four years earlier. Hurricane Ike had just hit Houston, and I knew there would be a lot of homeowners who needed a contractor they could trust, and I wanted to help as many families as possible. I traded in my car for a truck, bought a ladder and GPS, and headed to Houston to start my new career.
