Know your Chlorides and what's the safest for your Brick and Concrete Walkways, and Porches.
If you must put down ice melt because the sun doesn't seem to hit those spots, please advise that they can, and will eventually damage your concrete, and mortar below the bricks.

"Safer" Alternatives to rock salt

-Calcium Chloride is one of the safest to put down
-Magnesium Chloride is safe but not as effective at lower temps as Calcium, and safe for plants, pets, and water supplies.
-Potassium Chloride is slower melting than the two above, buy also safe for plants, pets, and water supplies.

Always remember to rinse any residue, and brines off the surface on the next warmer days to avoid any potential damage.
Buy a bag or two in late Fall/early Winter once the demand is not at its highest, or just wait until late Winter and buy at discount to have on hand for next season.

Photos are of a severely deteriorated brick porch from salt damage. Steps base was resurfaced with concrete, and new brick was laid, and clear sealer was applied.

Went from a 14’x14’ treated lumber deck to a 18’x38’ monster sized deck with Trex and Vinyl Railings. Lots of Railings!

1st of two bathroom remodels at Central Technology Solutions Removed a partition wall limiting space, drywall repaired, minor electrical, new backer board, tile, base and shoe moulding, new vanity, toilet, and 3 coats of fresh paint. Brightened it up, and is more spacious now. 6 day turnaround.

A bathroom remodel we finished last week. Gutted all plaster walls, new drywall, new electrical, plumbing, moved a closet from hallway to inside of bath, new shower, tile, fixtures, etc. The homeowner takes the credit for all painting.

Fun project we’ve just about finished with. Trex and Stainless Steel cable railing system. Neat stuff, and unrestricted view through the rails with this system. Before and After photos.
