Happy Tuesday Pipe Dreamers!

My goodness, it is a breathe of fresh air to be able to talk to all of you. We have been pumping out some high quality work for some high quality people this month!

Featured today, my master carpenter and I rebuilt these two soffits for our customer. They had both been invaded by squirrels and we had the pleasure of rebuilding them to help keep the squirrels out. While we were demoing the soffit, to repair it, we discovered carpenter ants had helped the squirrels with their infiltration. Before going back in with fire rated and pressure treated lumber, we sprayed the areas to prevent future damage.

Tip of the day: Even the smallest of insects can create the largest of damages. It is important to protect your home from termites, carpenter insects and even poor workmanship that did not take the elements into consideration.

Hey Pipe Dream Team!

We've been a little quiet this week preparing for a couple larger projects and our big screen debut!

Today's highlight is a soffit repair we did for a customer who was unable to reach his issue. This week we've looked at a handful of soffits that were invaded by squirrels, destroyed by the elements, or just slowly falling to smithereens. This was a straight forward repair replacing the finish nails with exterior screws. But we will go as far as reframing the soffit if that's what is necessary to make the repair.

Tip of the day: Be on the lookout for sagging pieces of trim, detached lumber, or animal nests around the outside of your building. These are all signs of animal or elemental intrusions which can lead to destruction of not only your soffit but, eventually, your home.

Happy Thursday Neighbors!

Now, you know I couldn't go all week without posting about a restaurant. This week we're working on a new restaurant right over the bridge in Philadelphia.

Without having my license (yet), I've had the privilege to work with and under some really exceptional men in this industry. I'm doing this job for a really good friend of mine as a subcontractor. Eventually, this space will have a full kitchen with 2 grease traps and back to back men's and women's bathrooms. More pictures to come as we go!

Tip of the day with a how-to: Clean your pop up drain assemblies for your vanities if they drain slow. If you go underneath of the sink the rod for your stopper is in the back of the drain for the sink. Unscrew the piece in the back and pop out the rod, pull out the drain within the sink, and clean that off. After you're done, reassemble the components and run hot water in the sink (Make sure you screw the adapter back on before running water, I'm not proud of the number of times I've made that mistake). Most vanity blockages/slow drains are due to hair buildup on the pop up assembly, not a clogged line. If this doesn't fix your problem, call me or another professional to properly clear your drain today! (856)524-0752
