This tour of a unique two-story residential home build, which features a safe room and shooting range, will show visitors the benefits of using insulated concrete forms (ICFs) for speed of construction, energy savings and sound dampening properties of the home. Visitors will learn about Nudura Insulated Concrete Forms from Ken Lynch of Tremco/Nudura, Joe Harnois of Atlantic Builders Supply Northeast and Dave Groen of Groen Construction Inc. who will be on hand to explain the use of ICF’s in residential and commercial projects.

BUILDING A STRONGER FUTURE FOR PELHAM'S FIRST RESPONDERS
A Fire Station Ready for Whatever Comes Next

Replacing an aging fire station wasn't simply about constructing a new building, it was about creating a dependable facility designed to serve the Town of Pelham for generations. After more than a decade of planning and several unsuccessful proposals, the community moved forward with a solution that balanced long-term performance, resilience and value. A key decision was constructing the approximately 17,300-square-foot facility with Nudura® Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs), providing the energy efficiency, durability and disaster resilience essential for a building that must remain operational when the community needs it most.

As project manager Mike Castagna of Castagna Consulting Group explained, "The durability and the energy efficiency -- that's really what sold the city on building with ICF. Conservatively, we'd expect this building to last 50, 60, maybe even 70 years, as long as it's maintained." Fire Chief James Midgley echoed the project's success, noting that other departments often ask, "How in the world did you build that building, as beautiful as it is, for that cost?" That's the value of investing in a high-performance building envelope that lowers operating costs while extending the useful life of an essential public safety facility.

GREAT LUNCH & LEARN AT THE VENUE AT PORTWALK PLACE IN PORTSMOUTH, NH

Engineers, building inspectors and contractors joined Atlantic Builders Supply and Helix today for a Lunch & Learn presentation about synthetic and micro-rebar. Today's Lunch & Learn, presented by Forta engineer Dylan Field, gave engineers a practical look at how micro rebar enhances crack control, durability and long-term concrete performance. From ICF construction to slabs, pavements, industrial floors and other structural concrete applications, understanding innovative reinforcement technologies like Forta's micro rebar is becoming increasingly important. Engineers attending earned 1 PDH credit while exploring strategies to build stronger, longer-lasting concrete structures.

Excellent turnout at today's Lunch & Learn on Helix Micro Rebar in ICF construction!

We were pleased to host building officials, contractors, and engineers for an informative session focused on the use of Helix Micro Rebar in Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) systems.

Helix Micro Rebar is a high-performance twisted steel micro reinforcement that is mixed directly into concrete. Unlike traditional reinforcing bars, it provides three-dimensional reinforcement throughout the concrete, helping to improve crack control, increase durability, enhance impact resistance, and simplify installation by reducing or eliminating the need for conventional rebar in certain applications.

Attendees learned how Helix Micro Rebar can streamline construction, improve structural performance, and offer innovative solutions for residential and commercial ICF projects.
