Ground covers may sit low, but they do a surprising amount of work.

They soften hardscape, connect planting areas, support pollinators, suppress weeds, and give a landscape a more finished appearance.

For Sonoran Desert gardens, we like plants such as Pink Gaura, Artemisia ‘Powis Castle,’ Pink Muhly Grass, and Baja Fairy Duster for movement, texture, and long seasonal interest.

My love for gardening started as a kid. I have planted these grapes years ago in my front courtyard but each time they would get close to fruition the fruit part would die.
