I can’t believe today is here. I guess I knew it would happen someday, just never really thought about it. The last day of classes. The last day of seeing friends, some of whom have been coming regularly for up to eight years.
This Thursday afternoon group started with me at Druid Hills shopping center, moved uptown to Arts Café, then to the Artisan Center and finally the last three years and two months at the school. What a wonderful experience! The students have come and gone, new ones joining in but the atmosphere has always stayed the same. A group of friends painting together.
Wednesdays started when I opened the school. Another group of people. Drawing, quilting and young people with private lessons. You’ve all touched my life in ways you’ll never know!
Paint Parties had their own regular group of painters. And actually were instrumental in a blind date and marriage set up by the mothers of the couple! We had soooo much fun! These may continue, just at other venues. The last one is tomorrow evening, benefiting the DRBA.
So now what am I going to do? I’m planning on concentrating on MY artistic journey. To see where I can go with my art in all its different forms. In all of these years I don’t have a body of work that shows who I am. There are many murals, and paintings done for paint parties and commissions, all of which were fun to do but I want to explore my style.
I’ll keep you posted! This page will disappear, so follow me at Karen Despot Fine Art here on Facebook or kmdespot on Instagram. And keep creating!!
