Knocking a few projects out for this customer in Gobles over the last week!

These folks have been a pump customer of ours for a few years now so when they needed a new septic system the decision was easy! They called Smart Septic to handle the entire process. From the permit to the installation they haven’t had to think about it at all.

We installed a new 1000 gallon tank, 500 gallon dosing tank, and mound drain field. It worked out well that we could disguise the mound by putting it way back in the corner of the yard for a slightly more inconspicuous look. Unfortunately, it’s hard to hide 100 yards of sand.

While we were there, we tore down a small building for them and are getting the driveway regraded and putting down fresh 21AA before capping it off with some nice clean crushed stone. Big shoutout to Deaton’s for tailgate spreading all this gravel so nicely for us and saving a TON of machine time! It pays to have the best vendors!

She should be done this week! Check out that Omega Liquid Waste Solutions hose reel — we haven’t seen anyone else in the area with one yet, and it’s about to be a game changer for our crews. Imperial Industries has been putting in the overtime trying to get this thing buttoned up for us. Really excited to get to hear how quiet this National Vacuum Equipment 4310 blower is.

Calling a drain cleaner? Nope. Cody was able to get this root blockage cleared at the inlet of this tank with nothing more than his T & T Tools probe.

Cody brings several years of experience to every job he goes to. We appreciate his constant good attitude and enthusiasm every day at work. The world needs more people like Cody!

We got a 1500 gallon heavy duty tank for under this customers driveway along with a 600 gallon Drywell. Fighting property lines, well radius, another septic system, and buildings on this job. No room! We made it happen though.

Big job or small job, doesn’t matter to us😁

Interesting find today-

Here you’ll see pictured what we would call a “standard” concrete drywell. About 6’ in diameter with lots of holes roughly 1” in diameter on it.

It is replacing this plastic dosing chamber that someone drilled small holes into the bottom of for water to leach into the soil.

Not only was this not up to code, it wasn’t effective. This system is less than 15 years old. It was done illegally and now the homeowner had to pay the price to have it done right. With underground work, someone isn’t always there to check you. What might work for now, won’t work in the long run. Do it right, the first time. Call Smart Septic.

After getting rained out on Monday, we are making progress again.

Yesterday, it was a very time consuming process to pump the old tanks, remove them, dig the hole for the new tank, haul it in, set it, get it plumbed.

All of our materials are staged way down the road (a one way). Nothing about this is quick! We should have both drywells in by the end of day today and be ready for our inspection tomorrow.

It’s all in the details.

Alright folks, we hear ya! Septic pumping is not necessarily cheap.

However, let’s compare it to a water/sewer bill in the City of Grand Rapids.

This 1,700 square foot home with 2 residents will pay $450 per year in sewer charges to the city. If you compare that to $400 every 3-5 years to pump your septic…it helps put things in perspective.

City sewer is 3-5x more expensive than a properly maintained septic system. We know paying for septic pumping isn’t fun. But keeping up on a regular schedule is still vastly cheaper in the long run than any alternative!
