Mowing in different directions isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s one of the key things that keeps a lawn healthy and looking its best.

A lot of lawns get cut the same way every week. Over time, that causes the grass to lean, mower tracks to wear into the soil, and you start seeing ruts and thin spots that don’t recover.

That’s not how we do it.

At Fair Ways Landscaping, we rotate mowing patterns on every visit. It helps the grass stand upright, improves the quality of cut, and prevents long-term damage from compaction and repeated travel.

The stripes are just the bonus. The real goal is a thicker, healthier lawn that holds its color and density all season.

It’s a small detail—but it’s the difference between a lawn that looks okay… and one that stands out.

If you’re tired of your lawn looking worn down halfway through the season, it might be time to switch how it’s being maintained.

We’re currently filling routes in McCook and surrounding areas for the season.

If you think our lawn care looks good, you should see our landscaping.

If you’ve followed Fair Ways Landscaping for a while, you’ve probably heard us say: “Quality landscaping starts with the prep.” This job is exactly why.

The homeowner was tired of watching their mulch wash out after every rain. The issue wasn’t the mulch—it was the base underneath it.

So we rebuilt it the right way.

We removed the loose soil, regraded and compacted the base, installed fabric and 3 inches of drainage rock, compacted it again, and set a clean, defined edge with landscape block. Then we finished it off with a fresh layer of mulch.

Now it doesn’t just look better—it’s built to last.

Most landscape problems aren’t surface issues… they’re prep issues.

If you’re dealing with washout, sinking edges, or beds that never stay looking right, we can fix it the right way the first time.

Not all landscape work is created equal.

This property called for more than a basic cleanup—it required a thoughtful reset. Overgrowth, dead material, and undefined edges were carefully removed to restore structure, balance, and intention to the space.

Every line was refined. Every plant was selectively opened up. The bed is now clean, defined, and professionally prepared for its final layer.

Premium Finish — Cypress Mulch
The homeowner selected a premium cypress mulch to complete the project—a high-end material known for its rich, natural appearance and superior performance. Unlike standard mulch, this product is designed to hold its place through wind and heavy rain, maintaining a clean, consistent look long after installation.

The result is not just a refreshed bed—but a landscape designed to last.

This is the difference between a quick cleanup and a professionally executed landscape restoration.

At Fair Ways Landscaping, we work with homeowners who value detail, quality, and a higher standard of care.

We’re excited to once again support McCook Christian Church and their student ministries silent auction!

This fundraiser helps send high school students to CIY church camp in Lincoln, NE—and this year, we’ve donated:

• Season-Long Lawn Care Program
• 5-Step Fertilizer Program

Want to support a great cause and have one of the best lawns on the block this year? This is a great opportunity to do both.

The silent auction runs through Sunday, March 29th, so don’t miss out.

Stop by anytime the church is open, or come out Sunday morning for either service at 9:00 or 10:30 to check out the auction items and place your bid.

Come support these students and grab a great deal while you’re at it.

The annual CIY Silent Auction is officially underway! Swing by, check out the lineup, and place your bids, there are some seriously amazing items you won’t want to miss.

Bidding wraps up Sunday, March 29 right after the late gathering, so don’t wait too long to jump in!

Every dollar raised helps send students to CIY this summer so you’re not just bidding on great stuff, you’re investing in life-changing experiences.
