Winter Weather Advisory – Pool & Equipment Protection
With winter weather forecasted this weekend, we wanted to share a few important reminders to help protect your pool and equipment. Taking the precautions below can help prevent potential issues.
Water Level
Please ensure your pool water level is at the proper operating level prior to the arrival of freezing temperatures.
Equipment Operation During Freezing Temperatures
It is important that your pool equipment continues to circulate water during freezing conditions, as this helps prevent freeze-related damage. Most pool systems are equipped with freeze protection and will automatically turn on when temperatures drop below approximately 38°F, though settings may vary.
If your system does not have freeze protection, or if your equipment is not running for any reason and air temperatures reach 32°F or below, you will need to manually turn the equipment on and allow it to run continuously until temperatures rise above freezing. This includes water feature pumps unless they have been previously winterized.
As an additional precaution, you may cover your equipment with a blanket or tarp. Please ensure that coverings do not come into contact with the pump motor or obstruct the heater exhaust, as this may create a fire hazard.
Power Outages
In the event of a power outage lasting more than one hour, we recommend shutting off the breakers and draining your equipment to help minimize the risk of damage. If this occurs, please follow the instructions outlined in the video linked below:

As long as the power remains on, we do not anticipate any major issues, but if you notice anything unusual, please do not hesitate to contact us. Stay warm, and stay safe!
