Here are some common plumbing codes to follow:
1. International Plumbing Code (IPC): A model plumbing code that sets minimum requirements for plumbing systems.
2. Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC): A widely adopted plumbing code in the United States, particularly in the western states.
3. National Standard Plumbing Code (NSPC): A plumbing code that provides guidelines for plumbing systems, often adopted by local jurisdictions.
4. ASPE (American Society of Plumbing Engineers): Develops standards and guidelines for plumbing engineering.
5. The oregon specialty plumbing code ( because we're cool enough to have our own) and now you know!
6. FOG. (This is the big dog out in Portland and dont think you can pull one over on them, they will drowned you in fats oils and grease they are whats known as FOG and they also have they're own set of "codes")
Some key aspects covered by these codes include:
- Water supply and distribution
- Drainage, waste and venting systems (Dwv)
- Fixture installation (sinks, toilets, showers, etc.)
- Pipe sizing and material selection
- Backflow prevention
Local authorities often adopt and enforce these codes, so it's essential to check with local building departments for specific requirements and local code changes or adoptions.
