"I don’t melt in the rain."
What’s Actually Worth Doing in the Yard During Winter? (More than you think!)
Hi neighbors! Our classic Willamette Valley winter is here, and it's actually the most important season for long-term plant health. Don't wait until spring!
Winter is the perfect time for:
Structural & Fruit Tree Pruning: Pruning dormant trees (especially apples, pears, and plums) is easier, healthier, and sets the stage for better fruit!
Bed Cleanups & Cutbacks: Clear out old, soggy debris and dead perennials now to eliminate pests and diseases for a cleaner spring.
Mulching & Soil Care: Apply compost or mulch to protect roots from the freeze/thaw cycle and control that winter mud-splash.
Drainage Check: Winter rain reveals exactly where your water problems are. Fix pooling and runoff now to prevent erosion and root damage.
Storm Cleanup: Clear branches and debris promptly to prevent rot and disease.
The care we give now sets the stage for a beautiful spring!
If you'd like help with winter pruning or drainage, I’m here—raincoat on and ready!
