A white house with black windows? Groundbreaking, we know.

Don't get us wrong, we love a classic white exterior, but when we were designing this home, we wanted to find ways to give it a little more personality, warmth, and dimension.

And that's where the details come in!

The mix of horizontal siding and board and batten adds texture without making the exterior feel too busy. The varying rooflines create depth and architectural interest, while the copper roofing brings in that beautiful warmth that helps soften the contrast between the white siding and dark windows.

It's those little decisions that take a relatively simple color palette and make it feel so much more intentional.

And personally, we think the copper is the star of the show. Can't wait to add those copper gutters, next. 😍

Still a work in progress, (swipe to see!) but we're loving how this exterior is coming together! 🤍

Custom cabinetry is about WAY more than choosing a pretty door style.

The biggest advantage is being able to design the storage around how you actually live, right down to the weird little things you never know where to put.

Coffee station? Hidden appliances? Ice maker? Oversized serving pieces? Specific drawer depths?

Instead of figuring out how to live around your cabinets, the cabinets get designed around you.

And yes…we're biased. We love a good coffee station.

Sometimes, our favorite kind of before & after is the one where almost nothing changes. 🤎

Restoring this 120-year-old Victorian home was one of our favorite challenges, because sometimes the goal isn't to make something look brand new. It's to make it feel like it's always been there.

And this staircase is the perfect example.

From the original woodwork and intricate details to the beautiful stained glass window, there was so much character here that we wanted to preserve.

We installed new hardwood flooring, refreshed the original wood stair treads, and gave this beautiful old home the attention it deserved, all while being intentional about keeping the details that made it special in the first place.

Swipe for the before.

You know that friend whose house everyone always ends up at? Yeah. We want it to be yours!

The house where everyone gathers around the kitchen island even though there are plenty of other places to sit. Where the kids disappear to play while the adults somehow end up standing in the kitchen for three hours. Where Friday night turns into “come over, we’ll order pizza,” holidays are always at your house, and there’s never really a reason for everyone to leave.

Because when we’re designing a home, we’re not just thinking about how beautiful it’s going to look when it’s finished. We’re thinking about how you want to live in it. We want to create a home that makes you genuinely excited to say, “We’ll host.”

Because sometimes the dream isn’t a bigger house or a different address; it’s creating the kind of home where your people always want to be. 🤍

Your laundry room might be one of the hardest-working rooms in your house. Design it like it.

A few things we think about: enough counter space to actually fold clothes, storage for the ugly stuff, hanging space, a sink when space allows and finishes that can handle real life.

Plus, the big one… make sure your washer and dryer doors open AWAY from each other. It seems like such a small detail, but it makes moving clothes straight from the washer into the dryer so much easier!

If you’ve been wanting to try wallpaper but are afraid to commit…start with the powder room!

Powder rooms are one of our favorite places to have a little more fun with design. They’re small, contained spaces, which means you can go moodier, bolder, or add a little more texture without committing to it throughout the entire house.

And personally, grasscloth will always be one of our favorites. 🤎

Grasscloth is made from natural fibers, so you’re going to see texture, variation, visible seams, and little imperfections, and that’s exactly the point. No two sections look exactly the same, and it gives the walls so much depth and warmth that you just can’t get from paint.

Consider this your sign to do something a little more interesting than white paint in the powder room. 😉

P.S. Would you believe us if we told you this powder room used to be a coat closet?

Plot twist: the starter home might actually be the forever home. 👀

Maybe you bought it thinking you’d stay for five years. Then five turned into ten. The kids came along. You made friends down the street. You love the schools, your neighbors, your morning walk, your favorite coffee spot… and suddenly the idea of leaving doesn’t sound quite as exciting as it used to.

The problem isn’t necessarily where you live anymore. It’s that the house that worked for you when you bought it doesn’t quite work for the life you have now. This is the same conversation we have over and over again with clients.

Sometimes you don’t need a different address. You need a better kitchen. A first floor that actually flows. A primary suite. More storage. Another bathroom. Maybe an addition that gives everyone a little more room to breathe.

There’s something pretty special about taking the home where so much of your life has already happened and making it work for everything that’s still to come!

Maybe your starter home had a little more forever-home potential than you thought. 💫

Do you NEED paneled appliances? No. Do we love them? Absolutely.

If you’re going for a really seamless, furniture-like kitchen, hiding the refrigerator and dishwasher behind cabinetry can make a huge difference.

Would we prioritize them over a great layout, quality cabinetry or good appliances? Probably not.

But if the budget allows? They’re one of those details that can make a kitchen feel really elevated!

Proof that you don’t need a lot of space to make a big impact! The clients wish list; a wet bar in the lower level, complete with a spot for their coffee machine, a nugget ice maker (IYKYK), a beverage fridge and ample storage.

The best part? We were able to fit everything in while still designing a space that felt visually balanced and cohesive with the rest of the space! ✨

When designing the feature wall for this living room having a door to the right of the fireplace wall just felt visually obtrusive. We opted for an hidden door and applied a detailed trim over it so when it’s closed, it’s virtually seamless.

Behind that door? A first floor primary suite complete with a bedroom, WIC, full bathroom and small back deck, perfect for aging in place, visitors, or the coolest kids hangout space around. Options are endless!

What do you think, could you tell that was a door? Be honest! 😉
