As wildfires continue to impact Idaho and eastern Oregon, smoke has settled across much of the Treasure Valley, creating challenging conditions for everyone who works outdoors. Recent fires in eastern Oregon and southwest Idaho have caused periods of unhealthy to hazardous air quality throughout the Boise area.
At Specialty Construction Supply, we want to remind everyone that no deadline is more important than your health.
If you're working outside:
✅ Monitor local air quality before and throughout your shift.
✅ Take more frequent breaks in clean air when possible.
✅ Stay hydrated—heat and smoke together increase fatigue.
✅ Wear appropriate respiratory protection when required and follow your company's safety policies.
✅ Watch for signs of heat stress, dizziness, coughing, or difficulty breathing in yourself and your coworkers.
✅ Speak up if conditions become unsafe.
Construction has always been about looking out for one another. During wildfire season, that commitment extends beyond hard hats and high-visibility vests—it means protecting our lungs, staying aware of changing conditions, and making smart decisions on every jobsite.
